I am officially overdue!

imagenimagen Posts: 343Registered Users
So Easter came and went and no baby yet! I'm kind of glad I got through this weekend though, now my calendar is empty and I don't have to worry about missing anything if this baby is born now. I'm getting a wee bit anxious, I have the baby clothes washed, co-sleeper is up, car seat is in, now I'm just trying to keep myself busy so I don't drive myself crazy obsessing over every twinge! Obviously I opted not to be induced, I would rather let nature take its course, but my next appointment is tomorrow and if they pushed for an induction so much before I was even due I'm afraid what I will have to go up against when I see the doctor. Of course I'll only wait so long before I give in, I'll probably consider it next week sometime if she doesn't decide to come before then, but boy do I hope she does! I'm trying some "natural methods" ( ) but we'll see how well it works!

If you can spare some labor vibes I would surely appreciate them! I don't want to rush her, but I am ready!

Ever since the sports thread wars I have sensed a special connection between [edit] & Wile. Like the connection oil has to water. I almost can't speak of it. Wait....my eyes are misting. ~asq

Thanks for the vibes guys!

Medussa, it's funny that you say that, because I mentioned the eggplant parm thing to my mom and told her sometime this week we should get everyone together and make it! It couldn't hurt, right? If it doesn't work atleast it will make for a good meal!

Wile..lets just say my husband it benefitting from the "natural methods" of which I speak. I think S-e-x helped to put me into labor with my son, but if it is having any benefitial effect on me this time it isn't obvious. I'll keep at it though, atleast hubby is getting it while he still can!

DarkAngel, how did you use the evening primrose oil?

Ugh, I'm already having such a hard time having sex in my "position". I couldn't imagine doing it when I was overdue!

Good luck to ya! I hope you go soon!!

Babywavy trust me..sex, if that is what you can call it at this point, is a pathetic and pitiful sight, and I'm sorry I have to witness it! As I've said in a previous post, sex at this point has nothing to do with having a good time, I totally have an alterior motive! In the very least I'm happy that my husband is still getting some, and somehow is still enjoying it, but I have to question at this point who he is imagining!

Thanks for the vibes guys, keep them coming!

 Oh, this cracked me up. Ya, it's sad. You really HAVE to be in love with someone to put up with them being pregnant for 9 months!!

Imagen, you can swallow the capsules but they are most effective if you insert them vaginally. Even better if you can actually get the oil on your cervix.

 OMG! True, true! I shudder at the thought of those days when we were late and trying to get it on, to help with labor.

Yep, I've decided I'm going to try EPO, raspberry tea and some eggplant parm if I'm late again.

My poor husband (and me) have been sexually deprived for a looooooooong time!!! First, I was scared to have sex b/c I was scared it would hurt the baby or cause a miscarriage or something. Then, once I was finally okay with it, he left for Iraq, and by the time he gets back, I seriously doubt it will be what he has been imagining! Poor guy!!! We better tke advantage of sex when he gets home though (for te few weeks before the baby comes). How long do you have to wait afterwards??? Nevermind-don't answer that- I will start a poll.

Last time around my midwives had me starting on the EPO at around 36 weeks. I took once capsule by mouth and one inside the lady bidness, daily. I think it takes some time for it to soften the cervix.

See, my problem isn't that my cervix isn't soft, last week I was about 95% effaced, I'm just sticking to 2 cm dialated and won't budge, plus I've felt that my water would break at any moment but it hasn't like with my previous pregnancy. It doesn't seem like there is anything homeopathic that will help with dialation, just ripening of the cervix. Maybe I've just exhausted all my natural methods? Well, we will see what the doc says today, now that I am overdue I may consider induction, although I am still pretty hesitant.

How far along are you? I went 41 weeks with #1 and 40w6d with #2.

Have you tried going to the mall and doing some window shopping? Take your mom with you. It'l keep you busy and might bring on some contractions.

I'm not a medical professional, so I am not recommending this, but I have heard of midwives using castor oil as a natural induction method. If the cervix is soft and the body is more or less ready, it has been know to help get things started. It also gives you god-awful diarrhea and cramps, though.
You ought to read up on Bishop's Scores before your next visit and ask the doctor what your is before consenting to the induction. If you do agree to the induction you can also ask that once contractions are established they stop giving you pitocin and see if you can continue on your own.

    Good luck.

This is one of the reasons I avoided it, even though my midwife gave me the option. I've also read about some complications related to taking castor oil, such as an increased risk of fetal distress due to dehydration via diarrhea.

    Sending labor vibes....

Welcome to my (former) world! Labor with DS started the night I finished an important project for work..... (Almost 2 weeks past the due date  )I believe that my body held out until that point so that I could get my work done first!

I self-induced with castor oil with my last baby (because my BP was rising and I was going to risk out of my homebirth if it went any higher). It wasn't god-awful...just mild. It started labor a few hours later.
