3 on the bottom.. 2 on top?

Is it possible to have a completely different hair type start growing in? I have firm 3a on the bottom half of my hair but in the last year or so, the top half is most definitely 2b 2c and way more coarse. It's like somebody else's hair is starting to grow on my head!

Something similar happened to me after I got a big haircut. If you've done something recently to change your hair, like a drastic cut like I did, or maybe moved to somewhere where the water is different if can affect your hair. Hard water can be pretty rough on hair and make it feel more coarse. Also, I've heard that people's hair texture changes around every 7 years or so.

I've heard of the 7 year change, but can it be very drastic?

@Savagegirl, my hair consists of 2b, 2c and 3a curls. If I diffuse I am all over 3a. Second day it will be 2c and by third it is 2b.

My hair changes at the root as it grows longer. I have been at solid shoulder in the past and know matter if I diffuse or not, the roots will not curl to a 3a.

What is the 7 year change?

Good point about the water change, @MichaelaRMcK. We camped at a campground that used well water and it wreaked havoc on my hair. It became coarse and frizzy from the root down.
