Can you use mayo for a deep conditioner?

I don't think mayo can be used for a protein treatment. Videos I saw on Youtube about plain mayo treatments seem to provide more moisture than protein and that's what I want. I want to mix the mayo with conditioner for a deep conditioner and I'm wondering if that's good.

Hi, @nohairtype. I know many people who use mayo as a deep treatment.

There is an article here that may be of some help to you...

I've heard about this too. It seems like a good way to get deep treatment from the oils/fats plus a little vinegar for bonus. Just be sure to get full-fat mayo for the best bonus.

@Savagegirl, if they had unscented mayo I would give it a go. Also, it would have to be room temperature, I couldn't imagine putting it on my scalp straight from the fridge.

You know, I like the *idea* of treatments out of food, but not the *idea* of them actually in my hair and having to wash them out. :D

No I don't. And I don't use bananas or avocados or eggs.
The only food related things I put in my hair are coconut oil, honey, and vinegar, all things that are easily rinsed out.
