so i haven’t bought a real leave in conditioner. ive been using a shea moisture conditioner that can also be used as a leave in as my leave in but i don’t really like it. so i want to buy a real one. should i buy a leave in that’s a spray or a just a regular leave in conditioner? when would i use a spray anyway? also i think i have type 4a hair im still learning because im new and recently had my big chop done! and im not too sure about my porosity.

Hi there homecurl! There are so many types of leave-ins out there. Personally, I think spray leave-ins work best for hair that gets easily weighed down or for refreshing your style in between wash days. If your hair is on the thick and dry side, I would look for milks or creamier leave-ins like Camille Rose Naturals’ Moisture Milk, Maui Moisture’s Curl Milk, Shea Moisture’s Curl Milk or Transitioning Milk. Two spray leave-ins many curlies swear by is Alikay Naturals’ Lemongrass Leave-In and Mielle Organics’ White Peony Leave-In.

Np. I’ve also heard that the Shea Moisture JBCO leave-in works well.

Honestly I think you'll have to experiment. I go back and forth. Usually I use a heavier leave in after a shampoo and a light spray after a cowash. Also you need to keep in mind if you'll be using a styler because the wrong combo and your hair will be a mess.
