We have been upgrading our salon finder to help you better find good curl stylists in your area. Please check it out, and if you have a great stylist, add your own salon/reviews! I consider finding a good stylist to be one of the most important steps in embracing your texture - someone who is going to help you embrace your curls rather than instantly pull out the flat iron or relaxer. :) :) :)

The "Salon City" field is case-sensitive. Example: If you type in 'seattle', it will only return results where the original reviewer used a lower-case 's' in the city field of their review (one salon in this example).

The "Salon City" field also requires an exact match. Either a drop-down or a better search algorithm that can return close matches might be additionally helpful.

(ETA: Actually, drop-downs are kind of annoying, but have an advantage that you can choose multiples. It would be ok, but another option which *might* be better is an autofill. Approximate searches are a better option, but also have their flaws. At the moment, at least getting rid of the case-sensitivity would be quick-and-dirty of fixing the problem.)

@Michelle: Thanks for the quick fix on the bug above. Just a couple of suggestions below:

    1) Can you include greater distances in the drop-down for "Distance". For example, I live in a small town and it is 50 miles to the nearest downtown metro. 80 miles would include two metros from where I'm at and would grab suburbs on the other side.. But,personally, I might also like to search larger distances, maybe up to 150 miles to see if it is worth it to go in another direction.

    2) It might be nice to have a "Next Page" link at the bottom of each page list so that its there when you scroll through the list.

I know I am very late to this conversation, but I would love if there was a feature to filter salons by their rating. I would love to have a way to more easily find the salons that actually have ratings at all.

We will be making steady improvements, and will be adding filters like ratings, brand (DevaCurl, Ouidad), etc. Stay tuned!

@misfitcurls, I just did a search for salons in my city, and there was a link at the top to add another salon.

How can I edit information for my salon's listing? Is it something I can do myself or would it have to be done by an admin?
  • Guide 65Guide 65 Posts: 1,984Registered Users, Moderators Curl Virtuoso
@radcat, I would contact the admins.  I don't see a way to edit information anywhere.

I have tried twice to leave a review for a new (to me!) stylist and salon that currently has no reviews. Waited a week each time I tried and my review still hasn't posted. I've e-mailed Naturally Curly at the e-mail listed on the "contact" page and I've received no response. Beginning to think no one is home at NaturallyCurly.com??? This stylist is amazing and not a whole lot of curly specialists around my area so I would definitely like to let others know about her. Please help?

Things are pretty messed up here lately. I wasn't able to log in for weeks. I finally got logged in last night. Still unable to do other things but at least I can post now!

@jeepcurlygurl yes I have been having problems also over the past several months...the admins asked me to create a new account because they thought my previous account was "buggy" to the point they couldn't fix it. So I did create a new account, and some of the functionality returned at least. However, I'm still having the problems others have been mentioning, such as not being able to create new discussion posts, not being able to interact with comments (thumbs up, etc.). Honestly, I can be patient with the other stuff, but a lot of us (I have, for sure!) have come to depend on the salon finder tool. It really has made a difference, and I really want to give my new stylist, and the salon she works at, the kudos she so deserves! I hope they fix this sooner rather than later!

@Gretchen you were so helpful when I was having problems with my account a while back. Do you have any insight on this issue, leaving reviews for salons on the salon finder tool?

@Redtiger I'm not sure Gretchen is still around here since she no longer works for NC anymore. I don't think there's anyone around to help us anymore.
