foam rollers !!

I happened to unearth some foam rollers and curious to see what would happen, I stuck them in my damp hair last night. I didn't roll them carefully, just 123 - super quickie and hoped for a not too terrible result. I slept on them - no problem. Took them out this a.m., again, roughly - no special care and OMG - big soft voluminous waves. Kind of a 40's style but it suits me. Think Rita Hayworth hair!

Wow! An alternative to curls, good for winter styles when I have to wear hats that totally destroy/flatten my curls. Kind of a cool look - very vintagy glamourous. Anyone else use foam rollers? :thumright:
2/c Coarse hair med. density.
Highly porous. Color over grey.
I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

I remember using my mum's heated rollers back in the 70's when there was no such thing as product (not in my neck of the woods anyway) but never used foam ones. I can just imagine the look on my boys faces if they saw me in them! Not to say I haven't sometimes wondered if they'd give a bit more control to my hair. Did you have less frizz?

Hey Therese, I used different sizes (large and semi large and a few small) kind of haphazardly all over. I think I was just lucky! I will try it again one day. I wish I could wear my hair curly in winter, but I hate having to wet my hair each morning to refresh it so I've been trying using different kinds of rollers.

Starmie, nice to hear from you! I didn't have frizz that day but next a.m. my hair was a total frizz ball :( so I stuck in some regular rollers on damp hair and it smoothed out. I also have heated rollers, but I'm afraid they will damage my hair. It's so hard to find a routine that works for all different seasons and dew points. I guess it's impossible. I wouldn't do this foam roller routine in high dew points.

nc_admin - thanks for chiming in! I did love it at first but I always wish I could wear my hair curly and have it look like some of the great youtubers. :thumright:
