What Gel or Custard Do You Use?

NatrulyMeNatrulyMe Registered Users Posts: 166 Curl Connoisseur
Greetings, NC Curlies.
I have been experimenting with Gel & Custard products for my wash n gos. The only gels that I have tried were the Eco Styler gel: Argan, Olive, Black Castor Oil & Flaxseed Gels as well as Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Custard. All products define my curls, but I do not like my hair feeling crunchy and or stiff (leaving my hair with a heavy cast). What gel or custard do you use to define your curls? This question is for those curlies that use custards, gels and or mousse. Any suggestion or recommendation is appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe I am a little heavy handed when it comes to using products?:shaking: IDK? lol.

Here's a recent pic of my wash n go:

Do you scrunch out the crunch once your hair is dry? My hair is almost on the opposite spectrum of yours, but I think that advice goes for all curly hair. Once it's completely dry, just scrunch your hair until the stiffness is gone.

Have you tried Kinky Curly Curling Custard? That seems to work for all hair types. Another one that's similar in texture is Camille Rose Curl Maker. Those can both be found at Target.

Some of my current favorite gels are Deva Curl Ultra Defining Gel, LA Looks Extreme Sports Gel, and Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls gel.

Have you tried any curling creams? I have Cantu Curling Cream, which smells heavenly! Just like a pina colada. It's way too heavy for my hair, but it might work better for you. It's very moisturizing.

Hi, janiegirl. Thanks for your response. :) Yes. I have tried scrunching my curls, but it still felt yucky (too stiff). No, I have not tried KCCC and or Camille Rose Curl Maker. I may give both products a try. Anyways, I appreciate your products suggestion. Also, I love using Cantu curling cream and tried the Eden BodyWorks natural curl defining creme. Both are good (moisturizers & curl definers). I like using my cream then the gel. I don't mind a little stiffness, but hate it when I cannot shake my hair.

Again, thank you. I may give KCCC a try soon!
