Are Balsam and Protein shampoos sold anymore

My hair type is 2C. After using Suave's Balsam and Protein shampoo, (long story short, a relative had an old bottle of it and I used it while visting) I have found that using it left my usually dry and coarse hair, soft and manageable without using copious amounts of conditioner. However, Suave no longer makes it and I can't seem to find any hair care companies that make balsam and protein-based products. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Does anyone know of any companies that still make balsam and protein shampoos in the US or outside the US?

Google shows a Hairvitalize Balsam and Protein shampoo sold at Dollar Tree. $1 for a 32oz bottle. Also I see a Salerm Balsam and Protein shampoo online here:

No ingredients listed for either, so maybe ask for them if you choose to buy the Salerm.

Suave Balsam and Protein...wow that took me back. ;)

I found this ingredients list for the Suave Balsam and Protein shampoo:
    Suave Balsam and Protein
Water (Aqua), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Chloride, Cocamide MEA, PEG-5 Cocamide, Fragrance (parfum), Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Benzophenone-4, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Citric Acid, Balsam Canada (abies balsamea), Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, FD&C Yellow #5 (CI 19140), D&C Red #33 (CI 17200).

Perhaps it is the soy protein + clarifiers (sulfate, EDTA) that is doing it for your hair, rather than the Balsam resin.

    Hi Kellicat,
Not sure if you are around nc.com anymore, but I was just at my local gas station and I noticed an off-brand Balsam and Protein shampoo. I checked out the label and the ingredients list is almost like the Suave I listed above except with silk protein instead of soy protein. It was this Blue Cross Laboratories brand (4th one down, the Salon Care Balsam shampoo and conditioner). The gas station was selling it for $2.16. You can probably contact them to see if someone local to you carries it.

I am almost tempted to go back and get it myself and try it. Back in the day, my hair used to *love* silk protein. It can make my hair limp now-a-days but I might try it for a clarifying day.
