Hair Cut ideas?

CurlyLadyUKCurlyLadyUK Posts: 7Registered Users Curl Neophyte
Hi All,

I am getting my hair cut at a lovely organic hair salon (no sulfates or cones) in a few days. It will be a wet cut as no curly hair specialist around here.

My hair is quite fine and low density, long-ish and very flat. Can someone help? I want volume and already diffuse, I just have such flat hair! I use light-weight products already so I think I need a better cut. I think it's 3A but not entirely sure what side-walk chalk width is, not sure I have come across it here in the UK.

What cuts would you recommend to get more volume? I don't want it too short either. :thumright:

Thanks!

can you ask her to do a dry cut -- explain about shrinkage. really, they sometimes do not understand that our hair can shrink many, many inches when dry....

here is a thread you should read before you go. it was started by a hairstylist many years ago. it has some very good info.

and, if you can, google some curly hairstyle photos to bring as a pic is always a good idea. when you tell her what you want, ask her, 'what will my hair look like when you finish?'

good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the quick reply! I am not she can do a dry cut but will ask. I have had both wet and dry cuts before and, although dry cuts are better, I always make sure I am very clear about shrinkage with stylists after one bad cut about 10 years ago. So recent wet cuts have been fine. However, most of my cuts have been lacking in volume a bit so I wondered if anyone had any tips :icescream:

Thanks will check out the link :)

Hey thanks for the suggestion :) ! Birmingham is too far for me to travel at the moment as I am near Edinburgh. I have had a good dry cut in London at a curly hair specialist but can't really travel at the moment with a small baby
