All natural gel?

Gabby.VinGabby.Vin Registered Users Posts: 8 Curl Neophyte
Hi, I have thick coarse hair medium to high porosity.
At the moment to style I use coconut oil, gel and curling cream
I made a gelatin gel, however it seems to be to hard on my scalp, it's great on my hair though it leaves it shinny defined and with volume. But my scalp gets itchy and feels dirty.
Does anyone know of a all natural gel recipe that won't have that effect on my scalp?

I used to use gelatin hair gel. Then I moved to irish moss jelly/gel for awhile. I posted my mixture recipe in the past, but you'd probably like it much thicker than I made it. I personally use Intelligent Nutrients Perfect Hold Hairspray, as it's light on my fine hair. If you want something thicker, ready made, there's also max green alchemy sculpting gel.

I don't know of any gel recipes, but the products naturecat recommended are good. Intelligent Nutrients also has a styling gel that is natural. You could also try Alaffia Beatiful Curls styling gel.
Low poo: Intelligent Nutrients (IN) Harmonic; Oribe Cleansing Creme

I have some of my recipes I can share. I don't know how they'll interact with your scalp since I tend to avoid mine and don't have super sensitive skin.

THICK Stovetop Flax Seed Gel - https://youtu.be/79IPkEJZUR4

    Xanthan Gum Gel - https://youtu.be/DkM09bnlCsQ

Microwave Flax Seed Gel - https://youtu.be/zl0BZuYq1LI

There are also commercial gels that are more natural like kinky-curly curling custard and Camille rose naturals curl maker.

Another company with more naturally based products is Eco Sevi. They have a blue yarrow styling gel and other products. Also Sweet Curls Elixirs on Etsy, who will custom make things as well.

Hi there, 3B high density, high porosity hair. Ive tried alot of gels that have been recommended by forums and article and honestly it depends on your hair type and porosity. My hair hates coconut oil and loves olive oil. So any gel that has that is a waste. I did use aloe vera gel for a while but be very careful with the perservatives used. I didnt take notice and it was damaging my hair on the DL. But i recently discovered flax seed gel that you can make super cheaply. I use 1/3 cup flax seed (whole) and 2 1/3 cups water let t boil till a white thick foam appears then i honestly use gauze ( first aid kit) tp seperate seeds from gel. I add 1 tablespoon hemp seed oil ( the best oil ever!!!!) and a few drops of tea tree oil and lavender oil. When i style my hair i use deva curl original ( tried decadense duo and my hair didnt like it much ) no poo and conditioner and leave a bit of the conditioner in and then flip my hair over and apply the gel until hair looks shiny wet but not dripping. Leaves my hair super soft and super defined compared to deva curl defining gel and devacurl styling cream. Just careful how much oil you add. I added 2 tbs to the first batch and used it to twist my hair and came out oily but i went to beach next day which worked out cause it pertected it from salt water.

HEMP SEED OIL !!!!!- BEST OIL

there are a few really good youtube tutorials
where all-natural gels made from flax or okra might work for what you want -
and hopefully won't irritate your scalp like the gelatin.
