deva cut- help! back of hair all uneven when curly?

Ug - had first DRY cut, and NOT HAPPY. And, this cut bya Devachan defector deemed wonderful by some on this site.
Not sure if I should return to him for fixing?

Questions
1-Is it normal for back of hair to be uneven WHEN CURLY?
The sides dry longer than back. And, after sleeping the back hikes up a lot (so really looks shorter than sides).
(thought purpose of dry cut is to avoid things like this)

2- Front framing -- where is that?
I didn't want layers, but there needs t be framing of some form in front (an angle)?
- this is like all one length - a little rosanna danna ish.

Should I go back to him to fix? Or find someone else? He seems a bit of a deva,

He cut , sent me for shampoo and assistant gooped hair with gel, He never looked too see if it was even or anything??
When I said it looks too long in front -- felt a bit dismissed.

I'm not convinced of the dry cut. My hair never curls up the same amount in the same places every day. A DevaCut went bad for me. Another stylist, who is trained in various curly hair methods, is slowly fixing it for me almost a year later, cutting wet.

With that said, it's possible a dry DevaCut is great for you but this particular stylist isn't. My daughter has 3b/3c hair & a dry DevaCut from another stylist was exactly what she needed.

You could go back to the stylist & let him know your concerns or possibly start looking for another one. Be sure & talk with them about your concerns before they do any cutting.

I wish it wasn't such a struggle to find someone to cut our curly hair properly. I'm sure you'll find what you need.

I adored my dry cut. Even grown out it's amazing.

Any stylist who doesn't listen to your concerns isn't doing their job. Any stylist who tries to make your feel like your preferences don't count is just just being stupid.

My stylist wanted to see pictures I brought of what I liked and didn't like. She cut my hair dry, taught me how to wash and style my own hair, dried my hair, refined the cut once it was dry, showed me it from all angles and asked me how I felt, was there anything I didn't like.

She also said that if, in the next week or two, I felt it was uneven or not laying right, to call her and she would fit me in for a touch up free of charge.

If that's not the service you're getting, you need a new stylist.

I have to agree with curlyamaryllis! Any salon that doesn't give you what you want should at least attempt to do right by you or run don't walk outa there! Still, I would assert yourself and ask for what you want. You're not being difficult..you paid for this service. Worst that can happen is you don't go back to that guy. 3c hair is so dang beautiful, I'd be angry too if I got a hack job.

I've had 2 really good haircut experiences, but my hair is still transitioning from heat/color so they address the cut differently to blend the different textures.
The haircut you describe is like a graduated cut thats shorter and more stacked in the back and longer to retain length around the face (a variation of the deva bob), but you can still layer up the sides a bit and keep that overall shape to give you some shorter pieces in front to work with. Check out the instagram of these stylists before you make an appt..if you notice they tend to do the same haircut on all their clients then choose someone else. Go with the stylist who has lots of pictures of happy clients who's shape you dig. Show them pics of what you like and hate (that was suggested to me by curlyamaryllis actually! thanks!!) . Funny but some curl stylists on instagram DO tend to give the same shape to everyone like its their only haircut they know lol..its good to spot them and avoid. The cut should be tailored to you, your needs, your face shape, and what you want to achieve with the style.

I think I'm going to start doing it myself simply because I don't like it the instant it grows out of shape. Also, you can't beat the price lol. Curl experts are great but expensive because they know they can get away with charging those prices. I know this isn't for everyone, but if I had to pay for a devacut every time my hair outgrew the shape I'd be more broke than I am. I'll only go and get one if I want to change the shape drastically.

Your cut sounds exactly like the Deva Cut I got last Spring - the difference being that it was what I wanted. The stylist cut it into a bob shape with the back stacked and the front being longer. I'm growing it out now, and the same stylist has now cut in layers and framed my face. It sounds like your guy cut it the way he wanted it, bringing up two possibilities: he genuinely thought you also wanted that, or was indeed something of a diva who did it his way regardless of your directions. It couldn't hurt to go back and ask for a correction - his response would certainly tell you which scenario had occurred!
