Stripped & ready to recolor - protein filler AND Olaplex?

Do I need both, or is that overkill?

I just used Color Oops to remove years of color buildup. Boy, I needed it! However, I now have to tone down the lovely orange I'm currently sporting. The package directions say to use a protein filler before re-coloring, but I also bought the Olaplex dupe at Sally's. Does Olaplex replace the filler, or should I use both?

Use both, they're very different products.

Olaplex repairs broken disulfide bonds and nothing else. Protein filler "fixes" porosity, creating a stronger cuticle that will hold onto artificial color better.
