Knitting Question?

Has anyone ever made a sweater? How many rows would you suggest I do for the arms? How many rows for the body? I have panic attacks when I look at sweater patterns, is it okay that I am making my own sweater pattern from scratch? What is your Favorite yarn fiber to Knit with? What is your favorite stitch pattern?

I've been knitting for many years but would never contemplate knitting anything without a pattern. There are some pretty simple, basic ones out there that I'm sure wouldn't send you into a spin.

I've been knitting for years & have knit several sweaters. I've always used a pattern. There are several websites that offer free patterns. Some are harder than others. Take your time, start with an easy one & enjoy!

Can someone suggest an easy pattern (scarf, household item, hat, anything) that would teach me to do increases? I'm new to knitting. I've tried following a couple of channels on You Tube with limited success.

KnitSimple Magazine has a bunch of good patterns, Also Ravelry.com has easy patterns for just about anything and it is free to create an account.
