Glycerin, is it worth it?

I am happy with my current routine, but am always curious if I could somehow achieve more. I've read quite a few raves about glycerin and am wondering if it is worth a try? If so, is it best over or under leave-ins? If you use glycerin, do you mix it with something else? Does it work better with wiry hair or cottony hair? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Sun-Rei!
You can find glycerine in many, many products. It is a humectant, meaning that it draws moisture from the (humid) air. But you can also buy it on it's own at chemists (or vegetable glycerine from health food stores). It's really thick and sticky, so you can't use it on it's own. The easiest mix would be for example 1 part glycerine to 6 or 7 parts distilled water (or spring water) with some essential oil (like rosemary). This will keep you hair nicely moisturised. Be careful not to use too much glycerine, because as I said, I can get really sticky, and your hair might get mushy.

As for what type of hair it works with best - you just have to try. Some hair *hates* glycerine, some *loves* it.

Also, as mentioned before, glycerine works best when the air is humid or it's wet outside. I remember once being by the seaside, and I was using this hair cream that had glycerine as third ingredient. My hair was almost wet, it was so moist!

I hope I've helped you a little!
