Hey guys! I was wondering what hairstyles is best for 2B type hair when you go to bed so you don't damage it? I usually just leave my hair down but is a top knot better?

I used to do a loose top knot or ponytail with a soft fabric scrunchy. However, it seems as though that may have been causing a ton of breakage in my case. My hair stylist recently told me just leaving my hair down was actually best. That said, if you do put it up, a silk scarf or pillowcase may help reduce friction.

    Hair Type: Bride of Frankenstein
Fine, frizzy, poofy, weak waves, some coils, low porosity, just below armpit-length

Hair routine: co-wash, condish, leave-in, struggling to find styler. Henna diluted with conditioner for root touch-up every 4 weeks or so.

Avoids: 'cones, sulfates heat styling and aloe (allergy)

Needs: Styler recommendations! Hair NEVER fully dries when gel is applied! Mousses & creams do not seem to provide enough hold for my weak waves/coils. Help!

I leave my down as well for the reasons Mermon stated.
I sleep on either a satin or silk pillowcase.

However, I have been wondering about doing a loose side braid or braid.
If one's hair is long enough, I wonder if that would be damaging.
I'm looking for more curl, body, volume, and shine-a miracle really.

When my hair was longer I used to put it on top of my head (like plopping) under a silk sleep cap. It worked fabulously. And it doesn't strain the hair at all. With shorter hair it doesn't work so I part my hair in back to each side (I sleep on my back) and sort of place the hair above the fold my head makes in the pillow. My hair gets a bit squashed anyhow, but this is the best I can do thus far.
