Hair gel has been around a long time! "Possibly the earliest known use of hair gel occurred on an Iron Age man living in central Ireland in the third or fourth century BC. His preserved body was recovered from a peat bog and revealed that he coiffed his hair - possibly to compensate for shortness - with a gel of plant oil and pine resin from trees that grew in Spain and southwestern France."
