Got a new curly haircut - Totally lifted my canopy

So those that know me know that my canopy is really normally flat. Well my stylist put in some amazingly short layers on my canopy and it totally boosted my curl pattern and overall style. I am madly in love with this cut, it's the best one I've ever had. I don't have super good pics yet so these will have to do. This was a curly cut so it wasn't cut uniformly - The left side layers are slightly shorter than the right side layers just due to how my part is offset and how my curls/waves lie against my head.

Pic from today after a wash

Pic from yesterday (second day hair)
Multicultural (Caucasian/Filipina)
2b/2c - f - iii - low porosity - normal elasticity
Holy Grail: Matrix Biolage Cleansing Conditioner for Curly Hair
I rotate through the rest of my products depending on weather and etc but usually don't need them
I try not to use products tested on animals if I can help it.

I can never seem to get my stylists to cut my curls short on top in order to have canopy lift! Thanks for your post - maybe I'll print the post and picture to see if that does the trick. I don't understand why the stylists are so dense.
    2/c Coarse hair med. density.
    Highly porous. Color over grey.
I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....
Every day is a gift :flower:

It is so, so worth it to at least try the style. It's been a few days and subsequent washes, and it still looks amazing. Products that weren't working for my hair before are working again, just super happy I'm getting phenomenal curl retention even better than before.

    Very good style for you!

My stylist keeps telling me that layers are a curly's best friend and has been encouraging me to add some for a long time. I have lower density, so layers seem naturally scary to me because I don't want any thinning. And I am growing out an inverted bob (was a necessary big chop), trying to reverse the angle, so I am very reluctant to add any layers until I can get quite a bit more length. Otherwise I would be super short and super thin! Once I get about armpit length (about 4 more inches), I intend to add shorter layers and see how that works with my lower density.

Yes, my stylist wouldn't put it shorter layers on top like I'd like. Maybe my hair is too low density?

Hello! You look very charming and pretty)
I think this hairstyle suits you. I also have curly black hair a bit lower than shoulder length. I don't have the possibility now to post my photos here.
I m going to change my hairstyle too and now choosing among these https://barbarianstyle.net/natural-hairstyles/. I have been looking through many photos and here I found even more than one that I really want to try)
I think experimenting with the hair gives you the chance to change something in your life and not only on your head) What do you think?
