How to style face-framing pieces?

I have problems with my face-framing pieces (which are about the length of my chin) falling in my face a lot of the time, and I was wondering if anyone has any styling tips or tricks to help with that. I'm wondering whether clipping them differently when wet would help. Right now I twist them in a rope (a little rope for each side of my head) and clip the ends away from my face, but that creates weird bald spots where the rope "clump" begins at my scalp, if that makes any sense. Anyway, if anyone has any tips for dealing with the hair at the sides of your face so that that hair dries in such a way as to not be in your face all day, I'd love to hear them.
