Still Confused About Porosity

I have asked about this before and have received really great responses but somehow I'm not convinced.
When I wash my hair in the shower when I move my head out from the stream of water, the hair on my crown feels dry....like it hasn't just been soaked with water from a shower stream. I'm treating my hair as if its high porosity but it doesn't seem to be working.
Does this indicated high or low porosity?

I am, most definitely, highly porous. To answer your question, I'll describe what my hair does, and hopefully, that will give you clues to what your hair is, or is not.

When I shower, it takes maybe all of 10 seconds (or less) for my hair to get wet. When I apply conditioner and squish it in (aka squish to condish), my hair sounds and feels exactly like a sponge. After washing (without products), my hair is dry in an hour or less. After drying and in approximately 3-4 hours, it will start reaching for the heavens. In my family, it's not so fondly termed as "poof factor." Moisture is lost at an incredible rate.

With products (such as leave-ins, maybe an oil, gel, etc) and depending on what I use, it will be completely dry in 2-4 hours via air drying. If I use a diffuser, it's about 10 minutes. Product is a neccessity to keep moisture in, as well as to weigh it down (it's very fine with medium density. Also, I have to use a LOT of product...it took me a long time to figure that out! If I don't, it will be gone by the end of the day. My hair absolutely, positively, eats product! That said, 2nd day hair is a rare beast. I have to reapply moisture with both water and product the next next morning.

Keep in mind, I am probably at the most porous end of the spectrum. And, it's natural (genetic). My hair has been "virgin" (no color, or damage) for several years. I've been using the CG method for about 2 years. My hair's properties have not changed. The only difference is I now have defined, "real" curls, instead of poofy, poodle hair.

    BeinDeb,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. I have some similar issues with my hair as you do. I think the differences are because we have different hair types. I'm a 2a/b, fine/med texture, medium volume.
Lots of product for me means flat, greasy hair. No product means lots of frizz....but no big poofy stuff. I don't color it or use heat on my hair.
My hair dries fast...a few hours with product. Less without it.
I guess I just haven't found the right routine/products for my highly porous hair. The search continues......

My hair is very fine, so somewhat different. Actually, the last couple of months with a new routine and a "wonder" product" (yes! I found a HG!), I've been able to use much less product. And, you're probably right...you just haven't found the right products. I'll confess that I became a product junky trying to figure out what these ornery strands like/want. I sooo wish I had gotten a hair analysis at the beginning. I suspect it would have saved me alot of grief and money.

If you are really struggling, maybe a hair analysis from GooseFootprints (I think that's the name) would be helpful. I don't think it costs that much. I would do it myself, but there's part of me that enjoys the thrill of the hunt for products that work and for figuring things out by experience. But BeinDeb is right that it can be costly and frustrating.

Have you ever tried following a low-porosity routine?
Low poo: Intelligent Nutrients (IN) Harmonic; Oribe Cleansing Creme
    RO: IN Harmonic

I am also confused about my porosity. It has all the properties that those with LP hair describe, but It does not take forever to dry. Nonetheless, I more or less follow an LP routine....
