Frizzy, Lifeless Hair

in Hair Type 4
Hi! I hope this post is not too long, but I'm absolutely frustrated with my hair. This is a picture of my hair from yesterday, right after washing it. The products just sat on my hair, and nothing really absorbed.

So, I think my hair may be a 4a/4b mixture, so I tried using creamy, buttery products. Lately my hair has been feeling stringy and dry, so to avoid weighing my hair down, I stopped using heavy products such as shea butter. I've been using water/aloe vera juice to moisturize and I've sealed with my oil mix (avocado oil, Jamaican black castor oil, grapeseed oil.)
I pre-pooed, washed, deep conditioned, and conditioned my hair yesterday. I do not use heat in my hair at all, I used cool water to rinse my hair and it was still stringy, dry, and it feels lifeless. Usually, my curls clump together when deep conditioned, but yesterday, I mostly saw frizz with a few defined curls. I don't know if I have low porosity hair, but I notice that my hair has not been retaining moisture lately. Does anyone have a similar problem and/or advice? Thank you!
Products used yesterday:
* Pre- Poo: Mixture of VO5 conditioner and oils
* Shampoo: Creme of Nature Sulfate-Free Moisture & Shine
* DC: Carol's Daughter Cupuacu Anti-Frizz Hair Mask
* Conditioner: Carol's Daughter Cupuacu Anti-Frizz Conditioner
* Leave-in: Garnier Fructis "Sleek & Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-In Conditioning Cream"
*Oil Mix
* Nunaat Curl Activator

Does it seem as if your old products are no longer working?
Does it seem as if no matter what you do your hair will not stay moisturized?
Does it seem as if virtually every product you use sits on top instead of absorbing into your hair?
Try using a clarifying shampoo or one with sulfates if you haven't already. If the sulfate shampoo doesn't work try finding one with sulfates and disodium EDTA and make sure to deep condition afterwards.

Yes to all three questions. My hair is starting to feel weightless and dry. I plan on making a run to my local beauty supply store tomorrow.
Do you have any suggestions for a good clarifying shampoo and a good deep conditioner that I can find at the bss?
However, I noticed that your current shampoo does not contain sulfates. Are you against sulfates? If so the only clarifying shampoo without sulfates I know of is the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo but I haven't tried it yet. I wish I could give you real recommendations but I've been using a sulfate shampoo and making my own deep conditioners instead of buying from them store.
Maybe someone else can help with the recommendations more than I can?

However, the night before, I applied some coconut oil to my hair before putting on a plastic cap and a satin bonnet. The next morning my hair was super moisturized and I could finger detangle easily before shampooing.
I hope this helps!
