What do think is really going on? The stories are all so conflicting, the original deposition that he didn't do anything, she wants out of her contract, she just wants away from that producer, Sony offered another and she said no, Sony hasn't offered her another. So many stories!

Anyone following?

I like that other artists are standing up for her.

I just saw the story about her accusing her former producer of rape today on Yahoo. That was the first time I heard anything. The last I remember about Kesha was that she was in rehab. That was a year ago.

Will it's possible that she is using the R word to just get out of her contract, I don't believe that really. To me it is ENTIRELY possible that she lied in her first deposition.

If I understand the time line correctly, he allegedly assaulted her, she told her mom, she tried to get of her contract, Mom told.. authorities? Sony? about the assault, she was deposed, said it didn't happen - didn't know what her mom was talking about (she was in her late teens/early twenties, entirely possible she freaked out, said if this actually happened my career is over). Then later as she is still struggling to get out of contract assault allegations are brought up again.

This is what I think happened. She was young, told she was over if she went ahead with it. I couldn't imagine going into work with someone who has assaulted you.

I think now that Adelle is behind her (also with Sony) she'll be let out. They can't ruffle feathers with her!

Was Sony the one with the big hack last year? I wonder if any of this is in those emails?

I haven't looked into it too much but I'm assuming she's not lying about it, not sure how that would benefit her at all.

I've been following this story intently. I feel for her because I'm sure she is going through emotionally, psychological and financial hell right now. However, many things just don't add up and I'm not a band-wagoner just because the accuser and I are the same gender.

Letting someone out of a contract without anyone being charged or found guilty sets a very bad precedent. Sony claims it's out of their control. Only Dr. Luke can nullify this contract. I think Sony should drop Luke.

I'm also waiting on other accusers, which are very common in these cases. Cosby had 40+, James Deen had 8+....all it takes is one woman to speak out and there come others out of the woodworks, especially if the accused is a multimillionaire like Dr. Luke. Hell, he fits the profile: filthy rich, powerful in his industry, easy accessibility to attractive young women, entitled as all hell....but why aren't any other women accusing him? Rapists are often repeat offenders. If Dr. Luke is raping, Kesha's probably not the only one.

@Catitude I hadn't heard about the allegations against James Deen so I googled. I've never watched any of his films, and by his descriptions in the interviews I read, they're not for me. What I find interesting is that it seems like the types of movies he does encourages the disrespect of women. It also seems that the companies would be okay with him raping women on set, especially if they can tie it into the film's plot to explain it away. won don't know what to believe, but it seems like an arrogant jerk in sexual situations with women who don't feel comfortable eith themselves performing sexual actions in front of a pro-rape set crew encouraging Deen to be disrespectful.

^ pretty much multicultcurly. one of his accusers said she was rectally bleeding from Deen (I could go into more detail of how but this is not the site for that) and the crew kept shooting. In mainstream movies, they usually have an ambulance on set during 'high-risk' scenes in case an actor gets hurt. In porn, I don't think they care about the performers much. There are many more female performers than male, and the average shelf life of a new girl in porn is 3 months (for more grim details, see "Hot Girls Wanted" on Netflix). They're basically chewed up and spit back out so it's like, 'why care about the welfare of these porn girls?'. It's sad, really. Deen also won 2 awards at the AVNs ("Porn Oscars") in January AND he's back to shooting porn despite all these allegations. However, they can't prosecute the man based on a bunch of rape claims via Twitter.

Looks like the music industry isn't much more ethical either. Once you have someone under contract it's easy to abuse them financially, sexually, etc and get away with it.

there were never any formal charges, and then a bunch of other women (mostly porn stars) claimed sexual abuse from him.

Oh my, how this thread has gotten derailed....was using just Deen as an example =P....anyway, with Kesha's alleged rape happening in 2005 and no other accusers coming forward...it's not looking so good for her. Apparently, Dr. Luke raped her when she was an 18-year-old virgin and she claims that they've sexual contact (with and without consent) since then. Luke denies ever raping or even having sex with her. Rapist or not, he sounds like an ******* anyway. According to court documents, he blackmailed his wife into getting an abortion and he just fits the mold of a sleaze. Ugh.

I derailed the thread. I don't know much about Kesha's situation. The sad thing is thay rape is hard to prove. If Kesha has email evidence, then she may have a chance to prove some impropriety and get put of her contract.

These situations also include gray areas. There is definite abuse of power that isn't always rape or provable rape. And depending on who your perpetrator is, as in the case of Bill Cosby, respectable society won't believe you. This is why I think a porn star would have a difficult time proving rape because she isn't a sympathetic victim in mainstream American society. Kesha may have a chance, but she is known as a drunk and high party girl so maybe not. I think perpetrators pick a certain type of woman because they know they'll have a higher chance of getting away with it.

Kesha has a litany of people behind her in the industry. Gaga, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, Janelle Monae and Adele are some of her supporters. The legal system doesn't care about that though.

The fact that Kesha has those artists behind her will give her credibility with a jury if this ever went to trial. Unfortunately, even with laws to prevent discrimination, the more "good girl" the victim, the better her chances of winning.

I swear when I first heard of this (and it was months ago, like last year sometime) I know someone else came forward and accused him also but I've searched for a couple of days and can't find mention of anyone now. I still KNOW I heard something about another girl. I don't know why I don't pay better attention! I don't remember this person being an entertainer though but maybe in the industry but not sure. Anyway, still searching...
It is a shame because you don't now if her actions were a defense and she was trying to mentally escape the situation.

Gaga's team denied the accusations, although Gaga herself does say she was raped by a record producer early in her career. Kesha's dumb-ass lawyer went on Twitter to sideways accuse Dr. Luke of raping her...which was a stupid move on his part.

Rape claims via social media undermine and trivialize the severity of sexual assault cases. I used to work with sexual assault survivors for a living. We required a team of forensic nurses, law enforcement and legal counsel to properly and efficiently determine and prosecute these cases. Posting stuff on social media just creates hysteria and a witch hunt mentality.

I was listening to an investigator on the radio the other day and they said the first thing they do when a woman comes in claiming rape is have her call the accuser while they listen to the call. They have her bring up the rape, and see how the accused reacts. If he says something like "What are you talking about, we just had breakfast and are going to see a movie tonight?" they know she has made it up. He said by the time the guy is arrested, they have already heard him confess. I thought that was interesting.

So he has been "misbehaving".

Here in the UK lots of "the talent" in previous decades have been found to be sexually abusing children and young women.

People knew about in management of large organisations e.g. BBC, the police and government but the police have waited to perpetrators are dead or extremely old before investigating it due to the powerful position of the men involved.

Also to smear genuine victims they have hounded famous men who have nothing to do with it, mostly using the testimony of a guy who is a proven liar.

This is one of the reasons British Artists like Adele supported Kesha, and another is obviously because she knows the cr** that occurs in the industry.

Agreed. I also believe that Sony knew that this guy was up to no good for a while but they are tired of the bad publicity so they are cutting their losses. I also doubt Luke was the only sexual predator who works for them. That industry is known for having sleazes of all degrees, and with all the starry-eyed, young, attractive female newcomers who'll practically sell their soul for a Top 10 hit - it's a target-rich environment for a predator. This cut has nothing to do with empathy for Kesha. This was a huge PR nightmare.

Her contract was with Luke's label, not Sony, so where does this leave her? That's what I'm wondering.
