SM Yucca and Plantain line ETA: Ingredients added!

While browsing Target.com the other day, I discovered that the SM Yucca and Plantain line has quite a few extra products that aren't listed on the SM website. They are:

Thermal Protectant Serum
Wave Defining Lotion
Firm Hold Gel-Cream
Root Lifting Styler

There was a review of the entire line on the Naturally Curly website.

Has anyone on the board used these other products? They sound very interesting. I've had really good results with the Styling Milk and shampoo in this line and am wondering if the rest of the stuff is as good.

I saw those on the website, too. Haven't been able to track down the ingredients, though, so I haven't ordered.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I was upset that the ingredients weren't readily available too. I went back to the Target website and saw that the products are on sale ($1 off each), so I went ahead and ordered. If the ingredients look icky, I think I can just return to the store. Here's to experimenting!

I just bought the firm-hold, and the friz spray off target.com. Haven't gotten them yet, but hopefully soon. Will also post results.

I was a little surprised at all the PVP copolymer stuff in these; I try to avoid PVP if I can unless I absolutely need it, like in really high humidity. So I'm not sure how many of these I will keep. The texture is runny on everything but the gel (I can't tell what the texture of the gel is because the tube is filled so full). I'll let you know what the results are on anything that I try.

I tried the Firm Hold Gel Cream today just for refreshing. I wasn't going to post about it because it was just for a refresh, and I put a lot of extra product in my hair yesterday, so I'm not sure what is doing what. Anyway, the gel is kind of a slimy gel and not much of a cream. It did have medium hold for me in the amount I used (maybe a nickel-sized amount). If I had used more, I would have gotten more hold, I'm sure. My hair seemed a little weighed down, but that is probably due to my using a larger-than-normal amount of leave-in this morning before putting on the gel.

I'll definitely be trying this gel again. I like that it is similar to my winter HG gel but doesn't have agave in it for hold. My winter gel has agave in it, and when the dew points get higher, the agave loses its hold and makes my hair look greasy. The SM gel should be a little more predictable.

Today I tried out the Firm Hold Gel Cream again, plus the Wave Defining Lotion.

My hair had a lot of body and felt very moisturized, but my waves were pretty limp. I think it is from the Wave Defining Lotion. On the bottle, it says that it is supposed to moisturize and lengthen waves. (I had read from product reviews that it was just good at defining waves, period, which is why I tried it; I don't want my waves lengthened.) I think that it is supposed to be like a curly hair serum, since the instructions were to put a dime-sized amount in wet hair. So it's clearly not a real styler like a gel.

I put the Firm Hold Gel over the top (I used my regular LI from the same SM line, then the Wave Defining Lotion, then my texturizer, and then the gel). I got more hold from the gel than I did yesterday since I used more. The crunch came out nicely, and my hair was very moisturized. I do wish that the gel gave my hair a little more stiffness; I prefer a little more texture. I added more texturizer after scrunching out the crunch.

So far, I find that the two products I've tried have been very moisturizing but not heavy at all. I'm going to keep playing with them. I look forward to trying the root-lifting styler.
