Losing curl and thickness

rachel16rachel16 Posts: 1Registered Users
I'm currently 17, and I've noticed a lot more hair loss lately, as well as a lot of flattening and a huge loss in curl. When I was younger, I had 3c/4a hair, and now is barely 3b. It could be stress causing the loss of hair, but I can't imagine that that is also causing loss of curl. I barely ever use shampoo, and when I do, it is only to clarify about once a month. I use the right products that I've found on this site for a daily conditioner, leave in, and I use a lot of argan and coconut oil. Right now, my leave in is the carol's daughter hair milk original leave in.

I have a lot of flatness and almost straight (ahhh!!!!! nOOO!!!) hair at my roots, and I'm really terrified. I've used a few relaxers when I was like 12, but I thought I had grown out of those. I trim my hair every two months or so to make sure it's not too dead and I never thin it out or dye it or use ANY heat. I really try to do everything I've read to do. I do use some tight buns and braids sometimes, but I've tried to cut back. I do scrunch and never use any terrycloth towels, so I really just have no idea what I could be doing wrong. My hair is down to my boobs so it's not THAT long that it would be weighed down into waviness. Oh, and I also take biotin and keratin pills everyday and live in hawaii with a lot of humidity, but I've just recently really noticed a huge change in my hair.

TLDR: please god tell me how to get back thickness and curl!! I'm (I think) doing everything right!

I've heard that one's curl pattern can change as time progresses, but I'm not really familiar with the details of said changes. I would honestly recommend visiting a specialist in this case; it is what I would do in this situation.

You may be using too much oil and weighing your hair down.
