Summer Gel Recommendations?

Hey curlies!

I need to find a summer hair gel. I live in Michigan and our weather has been crazy this spring. We seriously will have 80 degrees with high dews and high humidity one day, and have the temperature drop into the 30's and 40's overnight and have it remain there all day the very next day.

I currently use Curl Junkie Pattern Pusha as my hair gel, but it can't compete when we get super humid days (my curls get really puffy), so I guess I'm looking for an anti-humectant hair gel (if such a thing exists). I know some people use pomades during the summer, but I've never used one, and I don't really know how. I would like suggestions of products that I can get on the ground, and preferably at Sally's Beauty Supply (so I can return it if I don't like it).

I also need a moisturizer since I have really dry hair. I kind of thought a leave in conditioner was a moisturizer, but now I'm beginning to think they are two different products.
3a-3b with some 3c in the back
Medium-Coarse
Normal elasticity when dry. Low elasticity when wet.
Low porosity at roots, normal at mid-shaft, porous at roots.
Acid sensitive and swells rapidly in basic solutions.

Testing products:
Shampoo: Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Sulfate Free Shampoo.
RO/leave in conditioner: GVP Conditioning Balm
Deep Conditioner: TGIN Honey Hair Masque
Gel: Flaxseed gel with a few drops of Vitamin E oil

I do the LCO method and so I seal my hair with either an oil blend or SM smoothie after applying my leave in conditioner and then I use any of my regular gels (KCCC or LA Looks). I find this works really well with keeping the humidity out of my hair and making my hair super defined. And I don't have to switch gels when the seasons change.

I think the Ouidad Climate Control gel has protein in it, and I need to be careful with proteins. I'll have to see if Ulta will allow me to return it if it doesn't work for me.

I might have to try that method Curly_Cakes. I tired Shea Moisture a long time ago and I stopped using it, but I can't quite remember why. I think it might have been hard to wash out, or I was getting buildup or something, but I'm not sure.

Great reminder - I may have to try some oil again. I used to seal with oil and loved it, but stopped for some reason. I'm also having a heck of a time finding a good summer gel. My HG gel from last year ran out and I'm not sure when I'll be able to order again. Most of the summer so far my hair has been spent up, and I hate wearing my hair up.

Ha! I am in Michigan, too, and SUMMER is horrible for me, as a whole. I just cannot find the right combo! The gel I MUST use, though, is Rock Hard Gelee. It's the only thing that will keep the frizz in check.
--Low porosity, hates too much moisture
    --Cleanser: KCCC
    --Condish: DermOrganic
--Fillers: Bleave-in (only in winter) haven't found one

I have been doing the LOC method with leave in, oil, and La looks sport gel. I went through a lot of gels and this one seems to be the better I've found for my western PA weather that also goes from 89 to 36 over night
    3A 3B mix
    Colored treated
    Combo Low and High porosity
    Medium coarse texture

LI- As I Am leave in,

    Style- la looks sport gel

Where I live at Down South, it happens to stay very hot and extremely humid almost all year round. My favorite Summer (and practically all year round) gel to use is Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic, with Camille Rose Natural's Curl Maker coming in 2nd place. They both are on the pricey side, but for for the results that I get from them, they are totally worth it, plus, when they are being offered on sale online, I do take advantage of such, by stocking up. They both give me perfect looking curls with no frizz, plus they do provide my curls with shine, and all day hold (without my curls being left feeling crunchy or stiff-which I truly don't like). And, I do not get any flaking off have problems with buildup with either one.
    Diagnosed with Scalp Eczema 6/2015
    (Don't hair type/loose curl pattern/fine texture/low density/high porosity

    Current Regimen (Ayurvedic Based):
    Cleansers- Bobeam Shampoo Bars
Stylers-Rotate between Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter and Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel

I only wear my hair in wash n gos or buns. Also,
I do not use conditioner on my hair on a weekly basis. And, my hair is A ok with that!
