If your hair is droopy, the first thing I'd try (for my hair, at least) is clarfying. I know some people use an ACV rinse or baking soda (someone else can be more useful in that department). I confess I keep some (VO5 Kiwi Lime) clarifying shampoo on hand for those emergencies. However, once I started to really read the labels on my hair products, I've only used it once in the last 4-5 months. :)

It's hard to say b/c I don't know what you were doing before your hair started looking bad, but sometimes we find a routine that works for a week or so, and then it starts becoming too much and our hair goes the other way.

You may have had good luck w/ proteins for a week, and then your hair had enough of them and began getting a dried out feeling. Or, you may have had luck w/ shampooing, and after a week your hair dried out. Or maybe you have build up from some of your products that needs to be removed. Or it could be hard water build up. Inspect what you were using in some of your products to see if it could be any of these things.

I would agree that clarifying would help you. I use lemon juice mixed with conditioner to do this, it always seems to revive my curls so far when they are droopy, shapeless, and just generally wrong. I've been doing it weekly, my hair tends to cling to products.

    Good luck

If the ACV rinse doesn't work, I would recommend using one of Jessicurl's poo's... they're sulfate free so they won't try your hair, but they also have enough lather to at least get the build-up out of my hair. I was having the same kind of problem, and using either the HCH or the Gentle Lather poo really helped!

    HTH! :)

When my curls droop I like to do a DT it seems to perk them back up again beautifully :^) Also an ACV rinse is wonderful to restore shine.

Ah. I am having the same problem. I went home for SB and was out of my condish and was really poor so I used my straity sisters condish (bad idea. It was that new Pearl Protien that Loreal just came out with) and now my hair is no bueno. I tried a clarifying already but I'm scred to do it again. Also. I have been straitening my hair more lately, usually on Wednesday nights because I wash it so early, usually aroung 7. Could htis have broken my happy go lucky curls? And I have taken up a water aerobics class. Could the chlorine have broken my hair?

Here is a pick of before.

Yes. It started about two weeks ago. I'm just not sure what happened. I am going to try another clarifying tonight, but... I use three things in my hair: Tresseme Curl Gel, the curly gel I get at Sally Beauty, and Loreal Professional Texture Curl Memory Curl Cream ( it counteracts the crunchiness without undoing the curl). HELP! I straiten it once a week at the most and swim once a week at the mIn the shower I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo for curly hair (Yes it does exist) and various curly condishes. I swim once a week at the most and usually my hair doesn't get very wet and I run right home and shower. And I straiten once a week at the most too, but haven't since this happened. HELP! THere is no definition, and my curls seemed weighed down. Thank you for your help.

Funny how that works, isn't it? The curls have a serious impact on the mood. :D

lol sfisher i act like my hair is the leader of the mob. "don't touch "the hair", don't talk to "the hair"unless "the hair" talks to you first, you do NOT make eye contact with "the hair", you RESPECT "the hair". lol i'm a freak.

joshgroban's-the only thing i can think to suggest is STOP straightening your hair. that abuse deffinately wont help to perk your curls up. have you tried plopping or diffusing?

Yes. I tried plopping and it helped a little but not much. And I do diffuse on low cool with an Conair Ion dryer. I stopped straitening my hair more than two weeks ago. And I didn't do it often of for long, once a week for about a month which I know is long enough to do damage but not THIS! THere is nothing there!

ACV rinse, a little trim? That helps me.
