Tired of straightening and struggling with my hair! I love waves and curls, but I've always hated mine because I've never known how to style them. Everything I've tried has ended up looking awful once it's dry. Last week I discovered plopping and haven't blown my hair out or straightened it since, it still starts looking not so great by the end of the day though :-? I'm sure some good product would help, I just haven't been able to get anything new yet. I think my biggest issue is my current cut. I found a deva stylist near me though with great reviews, so once I have the funds I plan on making an appointment with her :D Anyway, I just wanted to make a "hello" post in here!

Here is my hair. The first picture it's still a bit wet, the second is after it's all the way dry. I find I have to pin some of the front back because it tends to stay more straight.

What are you using? It's on it's way! A lot of this is getting your technique down. Plus if you stop straightening over time that wave will bounce up at least some.

Right now I co wash with Suave Naturals Coconut conditioner, and scrunch in some of my husband's gel, then plop. I definitely need a new gel or mousse, I'm sure the the spiking gel is too heavy, it's better than when I don't use anything for now though.

I HIGHLY recommend Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse. If you have a Sallys you could check and see if there is any Volumax Mega left. It's discontinued bit one bottle would last a good while. Otherwise Biosilk Rock Hard Gel. You could see how LA Looks sports or Mega gel works for you. It's at a lot of Dollar stores and places like CVS Walgreens Walmart. Some wavies love it and it's cheap. The Blandi is pricey but well worth it for the volume without stiff stickiness and you can put it right to the roots for crown volume. So you diffuse? Pixie diffusing (lots of you tube vids if you search that term) makes a huge difference for we lighter wavy people. I have a lot of technique videos here. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy8bclCLgER5N_uVYSYZNxhBHSXAW40OQ

    Other good products are
Briogeo Curl Charisma Defining and Leave In creme
Camille Rose CurlMaker (some Targets have online target has)
Original Moxie shape Shifter and their Hold up Defining serum
Tresemme Perfectly Undone Conditioner and the Sea Salt Foam
    Home made flax seed gel

Are type of wave uses generally way less product but it makes a ton of difference though you wouldn't think it. Would. But we pretty much always need a hard hold gel lol those I mention above to keep wave and definition.

We also cannot always exclusively co-wash. Some can. Others like me need to at least low poo or clarifying anywhere from any other to once a month. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the great tips! I will make a list of those products next time I go shopping :) I don't have a diffuser yet, I just plop in an old t-shirt and then let it air dry. I do wash with shampoo on occasion. I'm actually not new to cowashing, I've been doing it about two years now, so I was excited to see it in the curly girl method!

Well, I'd say the first thing you should do is get a diffuser. I have the Revlon Universal. Or there is the Conair. They run about 10$.
