Eco Styler Gel

Any thoughts on Eco Styler gel? It seems very thick and I'm not sure if I should thin it out with a little water.

All other posts are for much curlier 3-4 type hair. Mine is 2b/2c/3a.

I put some in my hair this morning and it made my hair feel dry applying it, but then I added some additional conditioner over it and it did come out ok.

Seems to helped with clumping a bit, but I'm not sure if I should use more product to reduce the frizz factor.

Any help would be fabulous! Thanks!!

I really don't like it! It gave my hair the flash drying feeling that it sounds like you experienced as well. It seemed to be a better clump maker than a gel because my waves totally fell out. BRHG is my favorite hard hold gel and I would rate Aussie Instant Freeze better than Ecostyler Krystal.

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Beauticurls, CJ Smoothing

I used the Argon Oil one (which is max hold, to be fair) and I didn't like it at all. It weighed my curls down (which never happens) and gave me beach waves. I just don't think jelly-gels / custards are my thing. Watery gels work better for me.

I've only been able to use it as a rephresher on second day hair. When I try to use it after washing it dries my hair also and just overall didn't work well.

I've only used the Krystal. Good clumper but oddly dries me out. However, I know a lot of wavies that have liked it with another gel. And several that like the Argan or Olive oil.

IMO gels are difficult in that that are either drying or they do not have enough hold. I love Volumax Mega but it's now discontinued. So the search goes on. I'd like to try the Alba Botanical strong gel and the soft hold cream.

PS, Biosilk Rock Hard Gel remains the overall wavy favorite gel. I'm on the fence about it but for hold you cannot beat it. Some seem to be able to use it alone directly over leave in. I suspect I need to cocktail it more with other products for a softer hard hold.

    Thanks Ladies!
I don't really have a big concern with hold- I wash n go mostly everyday since I'm terrible at 2nd day hair. I don't like a gel that has a very hard hold- i'd prefer it to be soft and have a lot of movement. I'm thinking I have to do more clarifying washes because conditioners and products don't seem to have a lot of use on my hair lately. I think if I do keep using the eco i'll have to combine it with some sort of conditioner.

For a lighter hold I like the LA Looks NutraCurl. And again I like the Volumax 3 hold gel, which I don't think is discontinued. You might be a candidated for Deva Ultra Definign Gel.

Chupie- I tried to Deva Arc Angel but it always felt too stiff for me. I'd rather not sotc if i don't have to. I think my biggest problem is retaining moisture in my hair. I try so many diff conditioners and never end up sticking with any of them. I have to start using up all of the products i've purchased!

The Ultra defining gel is quite a lot softer and more liquidy than the ArcAngel.

Silly question, but for thicker gels, can I simply add water to make them more liquidy? And or cut them with conditioner? Or does that not help at all.

FWIW I've tried the alba botanical gel. It wasn't bad but I didn't think it was that great either. It had the same problem most commercial products seem to have for me; too much weighing down/pulling out of the curl. My gelatin gel fared much better. Maybe if I mixed it in with some other products the alba would have worked better.

I use DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel. It kind of works if I use some creme with it but it gives me frizz either way. But I the texture of it is nice, it's kind of gelatinous. It might work for you

Actually I'm having a pretty good experience with the eco styler. I do my regular routine and after I plop I'll put the eco styler in and lightly mix it with water. It give me a little hold and once I sotc I get some nice ringlets and soft curls. I don't like putting it in my hair before I scrunch out my water and add my cream to my hair. I've even put it on my second day hair- again mixed with a little water- and it tames it quite nicely. A little goes a long way too!

I don't like it. It doesn't mix well with my leave in. I just don't have a need for it when I can wash and go with my other products.
