heavy doses of humectants in winter

Brief summary of hair properties:
solid 2b, or maybe a weak 2c
normal porosity
fine to medium hair strands

With good technique, I get sidewalk chalk sized S curls and large ringlets when they lock together.

I get tighter, uniform curls that can be handled without losing their form. Also, when re-activated with water, the result is consistently reliable. Something I don't usually enjoy.

My routine:
Tresseme Strictly Undone Shampoo
50/50 mixture of TSU condish & Sally's GVP conditioning balm for my RO
Jane Carter Solution condition & sculpt for LI combed in with a tail tooth comb
KCCC also combed in with fine tooth tail comb
ending with Curl Keeper, applied the same way
scrunched the excess water & product out,
scrunch to dry with old tee & finally, diffuse to dry 75%, air dry the rest

I'm careful to keep all products after my LI, JCSC&S off the crown of my head.

So this brings me to product ingredients. All heavy on the humectants.

Can one overdo it with humectants in wintertime in NY? Dew Point today is 15. So that's low right?...shouldn't humectants do the reverse in DP's such as these?...or have I got it wrong.

BTW, dew point was 4 yesterday and my hair behaved the very same way with this routine.

There are no set rules to hair. If something isn't working, switch it up. If something is working, don't change it. Humectants can draw moisture out of your hair in the winter, so if you notice any dryness then you'll want to minimize the use of them.
