Low Porosity Hair

What are the best natural hair products for low porosity hair? I've been having trouble managing my hair's moisture during the dry winter months.

Just a warning and forgive me for questioning. A lot of folks think their hair is low porosity because they use the float test. It's notoriously unreliable. Most hair floats. Dry time is a much better indicator if you haven't had it microscopically analyzed.

My hair if fine/low porosity. It prefers the more natural products. I stay away from a lot of chemicals, especially polyquats 4, 7 & 10. A lot of my current favorites are in my signature.

Thank you for replying. What exactly is "dry time"? My hair is pretty thick and I noticed it just doesn't absorb the way it should. I try to use all natural products because my hair just feels so dry when I use products that have chemicals.

Without any products? What if I left a little bit of my conditioner in and let it air dry? Can I use the drying time from that to determine porosity?

You can do anything you want, LOL! The reason people talk about using "naked" hair is that ingredients that coat the hair shaft increase drying time. Because of the notoriously inaccurate float test, a lot of people think they have low porosity hair.

Back in my shampoo/conditioner only days, I'd get up at 6, take my shower, towel dry, diffuse for a few minutes and go productless. At 11:30, my hair was still damp--especially the under layers. I've lost a lot of hair due to age, thyroid, medication and other medical issues. My dry time is quicker, but it's still long. I wet, style, wrap in a Curlease towel while I dress, scrunch out water with a CLU towel and diffuse. At that point, it's probably 2-3 hours until dry (especially in low dewpoints with heat on.)
