Anyone with dental training?

I just lost the cap off a back tooth. I hope to see the dentist Mon. a.m..

Is it OK not to brush the tooth in the meantime? I'm afraid it will hurt if I do anything to it.

This cap came off before. My dentist said I might have to have root canal. I'm terrified. Can you tell me anything about that? I'm not allowed to have any x-rays (due to brain tumors). Can the root canal be done without that?

Also, can I take a small dose of Xanax before I see the dentist Monday?

Perri, that is SO nice of you to ask! I was debating whether to update and it really makes me feel good that you cared enough to inquire.

Anyway - it went great! No need for root canal which scares me because I have had so much radiation and am supposed to avoid any x-rays. Huge relief.

I am feeling so lucky and happy these days.

Yes, it's ok not to brush.
Root canals are not that bad, I promise!
