Pomades

Hey Wavies,

I'm on the fence about trying a pomade. I'm at the crossroads between 2c and 3a. Have any of you ever used pomades? For what purpose? Did they work? And which kinds would you recommend?

I do have Aveda's Brilliant Humectant Pomade and use it now and then. If I have over-gelled, it helps to scrunch out the crunch. On the days with either really high/really low dew points when my hair seems to puff out, I will smooth a little over the canopy for a more controlled polished look. I like that a little goes a long way.

Pomade for me works best on 1st day hair. I look incredibly greasy if I put it on 3rd day hair. Watch ingredients if you are strictly CG. If you try Aveda, they have 2 pomades. The Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade (which they actually recommend for us curly folk) has dimethicone. The Humectant Pomade doesn't.

I am CG, so that's unfortunate because they look interesting. I DO want to try Aveda's black malva conditioner though...

I'd love to try the Deva or Ouidad ones. I wonder if they really help shine.
