Getting softer/more bouncy wave-curls

Hi all!

I've decided to stop brushing out my 2b/2c hair (i think?) into awkward fluffy waves and love the curls :) My hair is loose curls at the front where my shorter layers are, defined S-waves at the back for my longer layers, and kind of a frizzy wavy mess for the top layer at the back of my head. I currently wash my hair around every 3 days, sometimes more often if necessary, but while my roots are usually quite oily by that point, my ends/that frizzy top layer are always really dry.

Current routine:
- shampoo with Pantene Smooth & Sleek Shampoo With Argan Oil (only at roots and only if my hair is that greasy)
- condition with matching conditioner
- squeeze out water with towel until hair isn't dripping
- apply Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil
- apply Tresemme Flawless Curls Extra Hold Mousse and scrunch
- air dry with top half of hair in a bun on top of my head until bottom half dries, then let top half out

Since my hair takes a couple hours to air dry fully, I usually do this at night, and it looks good until i sleep on it (with hair in a loose bun on top of my head). When I wake up the next morning, there's frizz on the top layer (even though it's been in the bun!) and less volume at the roots than I'd like. Waves/curls look good shapewise, but they feel really dry and aren't shiny/bouncy at all.

Does anyone have suggestions for either drying techniques or products to try? Since I'm gonna be at college next year, I'd prefer things that aren't overly time-consuming/really expensive to keep up all the time. Thanks so much :)

    Hey!

That's great! As far as drying goes... Plopping has REALLY worked for me. Check out some tutorials on this site, but my curls LOVE it and it's super easy to do. I usually leave the tee shirt on while I put makeup on, etc and then when I take it off it really lessens the drying time.

I also have found that my hair really loves co-washing over regular shampooing. The As I Am Coconut Co-wash is great and it's only like $8 for a 16oz tub.

    Hope that helps!

Are you deep conditioning? You can try asp ritz leave in 2nd day over the canopy or smooth a light one over it.
2a medium porous, You can see my wavy tutorials here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy8bclCLgER5N_uVYSYZNxhBHSXAW40OQ and my wavy blog is The Wavy Nation http://wavynation.wordpress.com

Oh yeah! Deep conditioning at least once a week can REALLY help. Try to find one that has a light protein in it. I've found wavy hair really likes protein a lot.

I like Shea Moisture masques myself. The Tahitian and Noni oil one is really good.

    Hi again!

So I went out and bought a few products at the beginning of last week, I've used them for three washes now (i wash every 3-4 days). The majority of my hair seems to be doing a lot better, but the parts near the crown of my head are still as bad as ever. I've decided that my hair is most likely 2C, medium/coarse textured (like the front is medium and the back is coarse), but I don't know if that changes anything. Here's what I've tried:
    - SheaMoisture Moisture Retention Shampoo: this seems to be working really well with not stripping moisture from my hair
    - KCKT: I got this because my hair tends to get really really tangled due to its length and a lot of reviews said it had good slip, but it's really not doing much for me. I've tried it as a rinse-out and also putting it in in the shower, detangling, and not rinsing it out, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference nor does it help with the knots. I also might not be using enough product for my hair length but I really scared of wasting it because it was kind of expensive
-Sheamoisture Moisture Mist: I LOVE the smell, but I don't know if it's really helping. I use it when my hair's dry and I need to scrunch a little, but it doesn't seem to give me much hold and doesnt affect the coarse parts of my hair either.

Russianprncss, I tried plopping with a long-sleeve t-shirt, but it just caused more frizz. Something that seems to be an issue with my hair is that it's really heavy, so with things like plopping or pineapples or sleeping with a bun high up on my head, my hair never stays there.

I'm planning on getting a better rinse-out and maybe a deep conditioner. I kind of have a history of buying moderately expensive things and then barely using them, so my parents are wary of more product purchases haha. Is there a specific rinse-out conditioner you'd recommend?
