Hair thin in back of neck

I noticed that since I've been my natural, my hair in the back is pretty thin, to the point that when I untwist in the back it looks awkward.
So is that normal?

If the rest of your hair is thick and no one else in your family has hair like that - no.

Do you have any known medical issues?

If not the likely culprits are over manipulation and/or unknown medical problems.

For a month put your hair in styles that have minimal manipulation. If your hair isn't growing back i.e. there are no short hairs in that area then go see your family doctor. Get a full health check plus nutrient blood tests. Lack or decreased levels of common nutrients can lead to hair loss. Some conditions such as thyroid ones and uncontrolled diabetes can lead to hair loss.

I think you may need to pay more attention to hair care. It's actually hard to recover if you lose them.
