You can go to the naturally curly website and take the hair typing quiz. After taking the quiz, it will tell you what products to use on your hair. You can also find good information on mydevacurl.com. I could tell you the leave in I use on my hair, but it may not work on your hair.

Instead of hair typing, knowing your hair properties would work better for you. My hair properties are in my siggy and as far as lightweight LI goes, The Body Shop Banana Conditioner has been working wonderful for me and I also use it as RO, and CO if I'm being splurgey.
Despite the coarse texture, I have low density hair and have trouble keeping volume and the conditioner does help. I don't really care about any particular specifically designated LI. I just work a penny size or less of my favourite conditioner into soaking wet hair.
    2B/C canopy & 2A/B underlayer
    coarse | low-normal porosity | normal elasticity | low-med density

Clarify: Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo, Citric acid rinse
RO/LI: Jason Moisturizing 84% Aloe Vera / Paul Mitchell The Conditioner
Styler: DIY Okra Jelly / Paul Mitchell Thicken Up / Shu Uemura Cotton Uzu Flexible Defining Cream
    Treatment: H&B Wonder Oil + VCO, Honey-Cardamom-EVOO-Chamomile

that is true what frckls said -- you don't need a specific leave in, any conditioner will work as leave in, just leave in a smaller amount. it's what most of us do. and knowing your hair properties is the way to start.

    3a, some 2c & 3b, medium texture, porosity normal, low elasticity :-(

You can use any lightweight conditioner like Suave Naturals, VO5, Tresemme Naturals.

    ^^ this!

In general, I don't use leave in conditioners as they tend to weigh me down, but I found out recently that my hair will tolerate a little VO5 Champagne Kiss. It isn't heavy on humectants, which I need to avoid in low and high dew points.

It's not on their website anymore; I wonder if I should be stocking up...?
Smorgasbord of finer, porous 2a-3a; straight underlayer

    :thumbleft: collagen
 humectants outside of optimal dews, PVP, oils/butters, anything remotely comedogenic

poos: Giovanni TTT, WF365FF, Suave Clarifying
    condishes: VO5 VMT, KLS; IonEC
stylers: FSG, 4NSBCC, VolumaxMega, AIF, GFPC

Mod CG since 11/2012. My waves occasionally look best when combed out, so you can pry my combs from my cold, dead hands :laughing6:

Best leave in conditioner is hands down oyin hair dew. It's lightweight, super moisturizing, keeps hair moisturized for days, and smells amazing. You can order it off of oyin.com or get it at target. Try it, you won't regret it!

If your hair likes protein (fine, damaged/porous) the SheScentIt Okra Reconstructor (mild PT) is great too. Humectant heavy.
