Watery Eyes, anyone else have that issue?

Since my 40s my eyes have been watery and easily get irritated. I can't even wear make-up without getting even more watery irritated eyes, even mineral make-up. I have tried eye drops, restasis, even punctal plugs but nothing has helped.

Does anyone else have this condition? If you do, what has helped you to improve it?

    Me!!! Get thee some Oasis drops at the eye doctors. It's dry eyes that cause this And blocked glands. Steamy cloths placed over the eyes help briefly but since I got oasis drops (with glycerin) I can wear eye makeup again! My eyes are still some sensitive but not at all like they were. I like the little plastic vials you can keep anywhere.

    Thanks Chupie, I hope the drops work for me.I am glad they worked for you! It must have changed your life. Even reading a book now bothers my eyes and I love reading so this is a big problem. How bad were your dry eyes before you used Oasis?

    Bad enough I couldn't get Lasix. My doc recorded these because she said most of her patience didn't need to go to restasis ($$$$ and prescription) if they did.

    I also could not wear eye make up. Now I can even wear eye shadow.

    My left eye waters and my sister's right eye waters. It's annoying.
    --I'm located in Western PA.   --I found NC in late 2004, CG since February 2005, joined the forums in May 2005, started going grey in late 2005.   --My hair is 3B with some 3A, currently at mid back length when dry,  texture-medium/fine, porosity-top is low, middle is medium, ends are porous, elasticity-normal.   --My long time favorite products are Suave & VO5 conditioners, LA Looks Sport Gel, coconut oil, honey, vinegar.

    Mine water either when I'm really tired or I get dust in them (I'm allergic).

    My watery eyes are usually related to allergies. Allegra is the only thing that's helped.

    My left eye waters too Jeep! Does anyone know why one eye would water?? Is this part of perimenopause or menopause?

    More glands blocked in one side. That's me too. Much more often my left eye. It turns red also.

    Have you considered any of the ointments to use at night? (Over the counter like "Soothe" or "Refresh")?

    Sorry to hear about your problem. I can't wear contacts or have Lasix because of dry eyes (which off and on watered) also. My problem went away after I completely stopped using any eye makeup for about 6 months, also used Restasis for a while, then stopped and tried the ointments which helped a lot. Now I can wear makeup again.

    Also, this is a real pain but when you are using a hair dryer, with or without a diffuser, it helps to keep your eyes shut. You'd be surprised how much that flow of air can dry your eyes, even when it's on low.

    There are some good websites with suggestions also. Good luck solving this issue!

    i also had a problem with dry eyes, then after awhile i realized i no longer had that problem. what i am guessing is what made the difference is omega 3s -- i had started taking them in that time period, only thing i did differently.

    3a, some 2c & 3b, medium texture, porosity normal, low elasticity :-(

    The Oasis ones do. I tried all kinds previously that didn't but Oasis tears work great.

    rbb, I've read and heard that omega 3s supplements can help. Definitely worth a try - can't hurt. If someone doesn't want to take supplements, there's several foods high in omega 3. Salmon and flax I can think of offhand but you could google that.

    I have dry eye syndrome due to Secondary Sjogren's Syndrome. When I was initially diagnosed, I was prescribed steroid cream, Restasis and Optive. I now have tear duct plugs in my lower ducts, still use Restasis and Optive. My eyes will get irritated and water at times. Omega 3 is supposed to help as well according to my doctor.

    texture - medium/fine, porosity - low/normal, elasticity - normal

    I have this too, but my right eye. I bought a desk humidifier and its helped so much!!! It plugs in to a usb and sits on a cup or water bottle them releases steam. Helps so much in an office environment! Try Amazon. :D

    Same exact symtpoms. Went to ompthmologist said I had dry eyes. Gave me this and that eye drop. After trying all of that you know what worked? This stuff from Walgreens.

    Maybe it will work for you guys. I am also severely allergic to dust. It is amazing how much better my eyes are. I use them everyday and they stopped tearing completely for the past 2 years now. I had a 3 year problem of nothing but watering eyes!
    I am a 2c w/spirals underneath! 35 years old with 85% white hair. I am currently using DevaOne everyday with No Poo. I am using Smooth N Shine Gel Conditioner Extra-Hold on my course hair and it works awesome for 3 bucks. I found putting Color Magic into my hair color really covers the gray well. :blob7:
