Shopping mistakes

What have you bought that turned out to be a disaster?
I once bought a couch that had big stripes. I thought it would be zippy looking, you know, pizzazz. When I got it home the stripes walked up and down! Don't know how else to describe it. Hideous!!! Screechy. Oh, my eyes. I gave it away as soon as I could, for free. Horrifying because of the $$ I spent, but I was relieved. Someone else can wear sunglasses when they look at it.
So fess up your shopping mistakes. What have you bought that you had to give or throw away?

It's usually clothing/shoes...bc I buy a lot of clothing/shoes. The fact is, I have my own style and it has been consistent pretty much since 7 or 8th grade. If you look in my closet, you will see several versions of the same basic styles of things, again and again, usually in the same colors (black, gray, olive). But somethimes ppl get to me or I get dazzled by something that looks great on someone else but is totally not my style, buy it and have remorse right afterward. I need to just stick w/ what I know works for me. The above isn't exactly an example of that; I just didn't realize how ugly they'd be until I saw them in person.
I have had buyer's remorse over many hair products over the years...but i'm guessing that's par for the course for many curlies, esp the ones w/ the less common hair types. I usually give them to my kids or to friends, swap them or just throw them away bc I'm not willing to mess up my hair over an unfortunate mistake. I also sadly have about 5 sticks of deodorant that I do not like. It works, tho, so i'm just gonna tought it out. I can usually make make up products work, eben if I don't love them.
I don't usually regret purchasing furniture or home decor items. But I remember posting here in 2005 (with pics) about how I got this crazy idea of putting a border similar to this and red Italian-marble-looking wallpaper all over my kitchen. The feedback was almost unanimous and I had to get it taken down. A costly mistake.

I bought some runnings shoes that were on sale for about $60. Turns out I have plantar fasciitis and needed to be fit for running shoes because you need more room in running shoes than regular shoes. So then I had to spend $100+ for new running shoes when the old ones are still shiny and new and unwearable. If it's really a lot of money that I've spent, I will try to convince myself it wasn't a waste. Like if I don't admit it to myself, it didn't happen.

I am trying to be harder on myself with purchases -- asking myself do I totally LOVE how this item looks on me? And did I expect it to fit differently than it actually does? This has helped me return the items I'm really lukewarm about so that I have funds in my piggy bank when I like something better.

Sometimes I'll buy makeup that I end up hating on me, so I'll give it to my older sister.
I'm one of those people that agonize over purchases and if I do order it, I'll make sure to return it within the time frame. If not, it becomes a present for someone.

I'm a Zappos VIP and they will send me out additional pairs right away if I call, even if I haven't sent the rejects back yet (but maybe they do that for everyone).
