Transitioning to Natural Hair PRIDE.

Hello. I've been natural for 2 years now and I've come to a realisation. I'm not a natural haired girl on the inside. I still hide my hair under braids every day. I still feel ugly with my natural hair out. I'm still scared of going a week without braids. I've decided to spend a whole big, massive YEAR without braided extensions. I love my natural hair, its soft, bouncy and responds well to styling when I treat it right. I miss my whole day deep conditioning sessions and spending washing my hair, MY HAIR. I'm 15, and aproaching my 'exam year', so this is going to be super scary, handling my hair in minimal time and avoiding feeling ugly amonst my braided/weaved friends. I just wanted to share this and gain anybody else's oppinions on if leaving 4c hair out for a whole year is bad. I heard that 4c hair retains length better in braids or twists but I plan to subsititue those with protective styles woth my own hair. thanks for reading.

I have never wore braids or extensions because my edges are so sensitive. But for a girl with 4c hair, twist outs, braid outs and Bantu knot outs look gorgeous. For the twist and braid outs get some perm rods for added curl. To hold the curl use a curl cream or smoothie. When taking down the braids, knots, or twists use oil to take them out. I used olive oil. Remember, the longer you keep the twists, braids, or knots in tact, the cuter the curls.

I don't think it's bad. Everyone's hair is different so don't let people tell you because you have a certain hair type you have to wearcertain styles and not .try it for yourself and see how it responds. In 6 years natural I have not once wearing braids extentions or weave so I don't think it's mandatory for type 4. instead of committing to a year take baby steps like a week or a month. Slowly getused to seeing your hair out.
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it. :wav:
