Confused about Porosity

Hello. I hope someone can help me identity the porosity of my hair, as I really don't have a clue.

Yesterday I tried the porosity check with a few strands of hair by placing them in a bowl of water. Two strands sank, another sort of did, and the last one remain trapped on the surface.

When I cleanse and style my hair, it takes hours to try, on average 4-5 hours, sometimes longer. When I have coloured it in the past, my hair sucks the colour up so quickly and I always get a darker shade that I wanted.

Any ideas? :dontknow:

The strand test is junk science, so ignore that.

You say your hair takes 4-5 hours to dry, is that with or without product?

I thought it all sounded a bit dodgy.

My hair takes hours to try with products in.

My normal porosity shoulder length hair can take upwards of 6-7 hours to dry with product in it (depending on the specific products I use).
If your hair is consistently absorbing hair dye overly quickly, that sounds like higher porosity.

My high porosity hair takes 4 hours or 5 tops with product to fully dry with the roots that are low porosity to take longer. Without product my hair has dried 70-80% percent on the 1 1/2 hour but I haven't tested it lately in case that has changed but I doubt.
