Is damaged hair permanent?

Ok right now my hair is healthy. I want looser curls so I'm thinking of getting a texturizer. I heard it can damage hair... Is this permanent damage?

I'm a guy so can I just shave my hair if it becomes unhealthy? And my new hair growth will be all right?

Damage is always permanent though you can mitigate the effects SOME with good care and practice. Shaving is not damaging.

So if I shave off damaged hair... My new hair growth under it is fine right?
