American Idol Wild Card Group

The Wild Cards are always my favorite! Who was your favorite tonight?

I think it's sad that they made twelve practice all week and only let eight of them perform. I wish they would have let all them perform!

I picked Suzy, I liked her a lot last week and I was so glad she got a wildcard spot.

But honestly, I wasn't that blown away by tonight. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I pretty much agreed with Simon all night! Am I the only one who doesn't like Leah Labelle? She just seems way too flaky and fake to me!

    My four favs would be....

    Katie Webber
    Suzy Vulaca
    Matthew Metzger
    Jennifer Hudson

The last performance was very good. I like suzy overall. the first guy singing a little less convo was funny, and i appreciated it.

I liked Jennifer, Suzy, and George. Matthew is cute and love his smile, but I don't know, performance wasn't too great. I didn't like Leah or Katie at all tonight.

I really think she's awful...I love her hair, but she shouldn't be there...I'm sure she'll be in the final, though, since Randy and Paula love her so much.

    As for my favorites:

    George 8)
    Jennifer
    Suzy
    Denise

Okay, this has nothing to do with singing, but can you believe there are three curlyheads! You have to like that!

As for the singing, I have to agree that it was kind of lackluster. But I really like Suzy, Leah, Jennifer and Matthew. I think Matthew is totally different, which is good. He could be kind of a John Mayer type. And he's got a cute personality.

It's amazing though how much better the women are this season. There's no one guy that's really stood out. Last season, it was all Ruben and Clay from the beginning. The thing that was fun about the past seasons is to watch them grow. Sometimes people really blossom. I think there are some great contenders.

I only saw a few before I flipped over to ANTM but I liked the first guy. He was fun to watch. I think he's doing a character or something - it's just so weird. The judges seemed to be doing a really premeditated "argument" there - possibly designed to move him forward as at least he would be fun to watch week after week. No one else really does it for me. If he makes it, I might watch just to see what he does. Otherwise, I'm not really that interested in anyone.

I think Matthew's sexy, even though his voice is a little weak. If we're talking "idol" I'd vote for him.

Jennifer, on the other hand, has a gorgeous voice. With some more training, she'll be great. Those eyes scare me though. And is it just me, or is she just like Tempestt Bledsoe during her chunky Cosby days? Even the dress looked like something Tempestt would wear.

I wanted to like Leah because she's the hometown girl. I just don't care for her style. She's one of the younger ones on there--rather than flaky and fake, I'd say she's just immature.

I don't feel the least bit sorry for the people who spent the week there and didn't get a chance to sing. They got a free trip to LA and a week with a proefessional voice coach, a stylist, and the judges. The experience was invaluable, especially if they are serious about this singing gig.

I like Suzy's hair. She should go through just because of that. I don't believe for a second those four they didn't let sing are done. The judges had already said they were among the best and AI has been advertising a twist with the wildcards.

Slightly off topic, but did the boy with the red hair get through? I can't remember his name, but he was on a recent show and is sort of known as the 'Dean Martin/Frank Sinatra' one. I thought his voice was great.

    Thanks. =)

Was anyone else amazed that Lisa L wasn't allowed to perform last night? (The redhed , the first one they told wasn't going to perform). She has an AMAZING voice.
I can't figure out why they didn't put her through!

Two of the wildcards going into last night that I liked when they performed previously were Suzy and Jennifer. I was glad they both did as well as they did and hope they both get through. Jennifer was in the same situation as Clay last year in that her original group had three really strong singers and she just happened to be the one who didn't get through the first time. She definitely deserves to be in the final 12. And I love Suzy. I would give the third spot to George. Fourth favorite, I don't know... maybe to John Peter Lewis because he put a smile on my face... he was entertaining.

I am with the couple of you above who said you don't like Leah. I didn't the first time and didn't last night... have a feeling Paula may put her through.

I was hoping Katie Weber would be stronger than she was but I found her performance disappointing.

Lisa L -- I never thought she was that great. I think the only reason she stood out was because she was in group two to begin with -- which was terrble.

CGNYC--ANTM wasn't really a new episode, right? It was a compilation of previous episodes? I flipped the channel back because it seemed like a pseudo repeat. I was sort of expecting the hot tub episode. That must be next week.

    Sorry for the guano, Cyndi.

I could not believe this either. Randy tells her she potentially has the best voice in the whole competition and then cuts her. WTF? And then they put in those two short haired blond girls (I think their names are Elizabeth and Katie) who to me are completely interchangeable (not to mention boring) looks-wise and sound-wise.

I think that Leah chick has some balls changing her name to "LaBelle" -- Patti you ain't, darling.

I think all the guys suck, not just in the wildcard round but in the whole competition. That guy who looks kind of like Matt McConaughey is blandly cute but his voice is average. I did like George Huff's performance (I love "Lean On Me") but I am not sure he belongs in the Top 12.

I predict that Paula will pick the cute blond dude, Simon will pick Suzy, Randy will pick George Huff and the viewers will vote for Jennifer Hudson.

Simon and Randy have proved time and again that they basically discriminate against girls who they think don't have "the look". Randy is the worse offender. It's amazing that he'd have a thing against overweight women. He's not exactly Denzel.

Man, is that a relief! I told my boyfriend that only one got to go through.

I love George and hope he gets one of the slots. He is just TOO cute. Maybe not idol material but hey, Clay wasn't exactly "idol" material either.

She sounded better than Elizabeth, Katie & Leah.

    My favs:

    George
    Suzy
Jennifer (BTW, Jennifer is sporting a "curly weave".)

(Why do I have a "feelin" Pin Boy" may make it as the "voters" choice?) ((sigh)) Another William Hung.

Judges picks if the above are not picked by the voters.

    Randy - Suzy
Paula - George (yes, George, he's "likeable" - everyone likes an underdog)
    Simon - Jennifer

It was a clip show, but there was a lot of stuff I hadn't seen before (I think I missed parts of two episodes, so I did have some catching up to do). There was a really touching bit with Yoanna crying about her grandmother. And they showed a pic of her before she lost weight, back when she was skinny and not just super skinny.

Yeah but I think that they are pretty desperate to add some more males into the mix, and since Jennifer Hudson and Suzy were really the best females of the night, she'll probably go with Matt (or George; I'm betting 2 boys and 2 girls will advance)

    C'mon Pen Guy.

    He was fun!

Also, it seems mean for even AI to actually tell four people LIVE that they won't get to compete. I can't remember who they were, but I thought at least two of them were pretty strong. I'm wondering if we're going to find out that they've been pushed through and maybe only one will get through from the actual compitition. Or something. I just can't believe that some of those people (c'mon, I love Pen Boy but really...and those two blond girls, gimme a break) made it in over the redhead and Tiara (sp?). I'm expecting a twist of some sort.
