Im at my wits end!

Hi everyone, Ive been doing the CG method for over a two months. I am currently using Suave naturals as my co-wash, shea moisture shampoo once every few weeks, GVP (not exactly sure of the name but its the one everyone uses), then as my leave in use some of the Suave Naturals. To style I use some of the CURLZ gel and LA gel then plop over night. My hair is so dry, its not soft at all. Im losing crazy amount of hair when detangling in the shower with my wide tooth comb. Im assuming the GVP doesn't have enough slip for me. My hair is past bra strap length and I think im 2c hair. My scalp is always itchy as well. I should also add that when I scratch my scalp I have a lot of gunk build up in my nails. Im pretty much ready to give up because of the amount of hair im losing! I dont think it looks any better than it did before except it is curlier. Im willing to try anything but would love to keep it cheaper if possible. Any help I could get! I want to be able to touch my hair and not feel just dry hair. Thanks! Sorry this is a mumbo of emotions but I really want this to work out.

It sounds like you might need some protein to improve the "dry" problem. There are many ways to accomplish this on a budget, including switching out stylers or leave-ins, but one of the favorites seems to be a DIY gelatin treatment: Science-y Hair Blog: Recipes and Projects

I'm not sure how to diagnose your scalp concerns, but to be honest that sounds like something you might want checked by a doctor to ensure you aren't ignoring a serious inflammation or infection.

As far as still losing hair... have you tried skipping the comb and finger detangling?

I'm kinda having the same problem. I started trying to just wash with conditioner but I felt like my hair wasn't getting clean! I lose so much hair in the shower with my comb when I database because I have a big mat of hair all tangled up from trying to go days without washing. It's nice not having to wash my hair everyday but it's not worth it when I have to rip my hair out of my head. I also need to know of better products out there that are AFFORDABLE that can help me. I just don't feel like washing with conditioner can get your hair clean.

What helps me is that I use sea breeze to help get product out of my hair. With conditioner in my hands I scrub my scalp first with the pads of my fingers. Then after rising and conditioner on my hands I take sections of my in between my hands and rub my hands together like I'm trying make fire. After doing that all over my head and using the sea breeze, my hair is squeaky clean. The conditioners I use and have used are tresemme naturals (current) and as I am cowash (past) Both get my hair squeaky clean along with the sea breeze.

Both of these conditioners will foam in your hands.

I also suffer from scalp build up as I like you tend to co-wash. My solution to my scalp build up was ACV rinsing. It gets rid of scalp buildup and cleanses the hair without drying! It is now part of my bi weekly regimen. An answer to shedding is try not to detangle your hair whilst soaking wet. Hair is most elastic when wet so combing during this point can be why ur shedding so much. Instead try detangling when your hair is dry with an oil before shampooing/co-washing. I find less hair sheds this way. In regards to your dry hair. Make sure you are deep conditioning weekly! Drinking enough water!?

What product is sea breeze? And what is ACV?

If you're using just Shea Moisture shampoo, it is most likely build up from the cowashing, the shea butter in the shampoo, and all of your other products. Especially if you have hard water (don't know what kind of water you have) Sounds like you really need to do a clarifying shampoo. Use a clear shampoo containing cocamidopropyl betaine or coco betaine. Yes To Cucumbers is a good one.

Sea Breeze is a type of watery astringent/toner that's usually used for face cleansing. I have never tried this method, but witch hazel might be a variety of astringent that you're more familiar with.

When you use the ACV to rinse do you leave it in your hair at all or scrub with it?

When I use ACV I will spray it into my roots and then all over, massage my roots and leave in for 15 mins then rinse out .

I know exactly where you're coming from. I've been living it and although it's gotten better in terms of hair loss. I am struggling with dryness and frizziness. Nothing seems to help, not even protein or moisturizing. I honestly was just about to post the same message, I'm at my wits end and need to know whether there is a hair specialist out there that can analyze hair to know what's going on.
I've spent so much money on products. Thank God for return policy. I were you I would buy from places that have a good return policy. That way you can try without a big commitment.
I am also struggling with dry hair. Although, I wouldn't recommend a ACV wash. Last time I did it, it made my hair squeaky and dryer.

I was reading just the other day about scalp issues. Perhaps you have some kind of inflammation. I would say you can try massaging your scalp on a regular basis and apply some oil such as castor oil. It has anti inflammatory properties.

I had anemia a little over 6 months ago. And that may have been the cause of my hair loss. I recommend you get your blood work check.

I hope I was able to help in some shape or form.
3b/C with nicer curls on the bottom!
Hair: naturally very dry and VERY porous
    hair seems to be moody.
Does not seem to like oils
Does not like protein or too much?
    Does not like rich products

So, I ask myself. What does it like? That is the question, and I'm on a mission.
