Beach hair?

Next Saturday we leave for a week at the beach. My oldest is 6 and has type 4b or c hair. It comes to her waist when wet but a little below her shoulders otherwise. Any suggestions on how to do her hair for the beach? Ideally I would like to do it on Thursday and then not do it again until after we get home. I can't do cornrows and can't find any place near us that can do her hair. She is requesting a bunch of braids all over her head. Normally I use little hairbands at the base of these to reduce frizzies. I'm really pretty clueless beyond that. I will not restrict her sand or water play but I don't want her to look like a giant dust bunny by the end of the week. Suggestions?
