Sometimes we inspire and influence people and don't even know it!

Every year there is an Italian Festival on my street. We went Saturday and were just sitting down to eat when this woman came up to me. She looked a few years younger than me and I've seen her around and vaguely know her husband but have never met her before. She had thick long curly hair that was about 4 inches of grey and the rest reddish brown.
She said "I just have to tell you that I saw you here last year and I loved your hair so much that you inspired me to let my hair go grey". Awww! So we chatted about our curly hair for awhile and like me she cuts her own hair because of too many disasters.
It made my day! : )

i know definitely of one person who said i inspired her to stop coloring her hair. it does feel good! :-) feels good to know we gave them the courage to do what they've more than likely been wanting to do but were afraid of the results.
i say definitely because i suspect there are others... :-)

Both of you inspired me! I quit using henna glosses to blend the gray a little over a year ago, and I'm about to do a big chop and have most, if not all, of the old color cut off. It'll probably be a little shorter than RBB's.

Y'all's looks so good that I decided I was going to do that and quit with all the goop because to really keep the silver from showing, I had to do it every 2-3 weeks. Even then I'd still see glints, LOL.

It was just no longer worth the time and effort, and I'm really not minding what I'm seeing at all :)

thanks! i cut my hair shorter than photo when i was transitioning, a shorter bob, just to cut off some color after about 9 months.

Finally got it chopped off Saturday, and I don't mind the color at all. Haven't seen anyone else yet to get others' reactions, though. My only problem with it is that it's kind of in shock right now and not curling well, so I can't do much with it for the time being. It's shorter than RBB's avatar, probably about the way she described hers while transitioning. Thank God it grows fast!

the problem with 3a hair is that when it is shorter it curls less -- still is attractive, just in a different way. you'll figure out how to wear it. for me, it was easier dealing with mostly transitioned hair and encouraging.
    any photos?

I have 3a hair but at the length of my avitar, still long enough to curl. If I go super short, it does have less curl overall but still have that dreaded perimeter shrinkage. Perhaps my very bottom perimeter is 3b, IDK. Anyway, would love to see current pics of your hair.

Poo: Have to admit I have recently become a Wen convert. Love it. I have always had problems with my hair "hanging" right, curling uniformly and destorting the perimeter line. Wen makes it hang evenly.

Definitely true, Jeepy. I think at least one of my friends is thinking about letting her hair get gray. But I also have people come up to me out of no where and say 'I love your hair!' (its the ombre look right now, almost half silver). I just thank them - and it really feels great to hear they love it - and explain I just stopped coloring it.
