Hmm...so, the new growth is a great shade, but tends to be more wavy than curly - and frizzes. I am using Deva foam with some KCCC - and I diffuse, then clip. Any suggestions for "crown treatment"?

my hair was different also at that length, not loser curls, tho. that, plus the black and white look, got me to cut my hair shorter. not a pixie, but more like a short bob. still black and white, but more manageable then.

i find that my gray/white hair loses moisture more quickly. if you read tonya's article on gray hair, it is very informative. there is one section that is totally white and i need to put more leave in in that specific area. plus i now almost always seal. if your new hair is wavy it might be telling you it needs more moisture. if our hair is dehydrated it loses curl, moisture makes the curls pop back.

i find you need to adapt to the change in your hair and when you figure it out, it's great!

rbb, how do you use your JC product as a sealant? I have to be careful about leave ins, because even though I am not sure I have LP hair, products do tend to "sit" on my hair. I have the JC Nourish and Shine spray, the Jhrimack 5 in 1 for silver hair, and Slip detangler. Do you re-apply your JC after you shampoo and condition? or after you apply products?

myrna, if you are lp it might be better for you not to use butters/oils. just rich products i think.
i use jc n&s sometimes after my leave in and sometimes only leave in and jc, or sometimes i do gel or a curl cream. if i do a curl cream i do the jcns after. so sometimes i apply it on wet hair, other times on dry hair.

and some days i don't use the jcns but when my hair dries it looks like it needs sit so i scrunch it out with jcns. there are days i don't use any depending on the dews and how much my hair seems to need it. i also very occasionally rotate and use ss emollience butter instead.

unfortunately it's like going cg again -- you need to try to guess your properties and find ingredients it likes. maybe it's worth a hair analysis with your gray/silver coming in?

Myrna - I too usually have frizzy canopy hair. I have discovered 2 products that consistently work for me. One is CJCIAB and the other is Curly Solutions Curl Keeper. I think I like the latter slightly better than the CIAB which can leave it a little drier feeling than the Curl Keeper. On both products, I use a gel just on the very ends. Usually Deva Light Defining Gel.

Curly: I have Curl Keeper. I use it on and off. I cant quite get whether my hair likes it or not. my main issue with it is that I think it might be great on dense curls, but mine are not. I dont really know the properties of my hair but it behaves like LP hair. if it is, it is medium density, was probably high density when I was younger. I also go back and forth with cleansing conditioners. I have never tried Wen because of the cones and i wash my hair every day. I do have CJ Daily Fix, and L'Oreal's Curl Cleansing conditioner (blue bottle); the CJ is hard to use, it is thick and does not spread easily. Sometimes I think my hair is best with a low sulfate shampoo..still pondering that. And as for conditioners...well, that is a crap shoot too. I dont know if you saw that in another thread, I posted a pic of my new hair cut. She took off about 6 inches, and I have an inverted bob now.

I did see your new haircut. Love it. And it just goes to show that curl hair is so different. Mine resembles your pics but obviously is not similar. I also have rather thin hair, even tho it looks thick, that is just the body it has. Anyway, Daily Fix leaves my hair feeling limp and thinner. I like the Curls in a Bottle product but have not found any other CJ products that work well.

Myrna, something else you might want to consider before you change what you were doing or try a bunch of new products, is the "shock" factor. I know that every time I get my hair cut, the coils do tend to spaz out a bit for a week or two, and all of the products that worked well, don't seem to anymore. There seems to be a definitive adjustment factor...even more so, if a lot was taken off. I know it's scientifically true that hair is a "dead" thing, but living with it says otherwise. It has its own distinct personality...ergo - life, and especially if it's curly!
