Random Type-3 Thoughts

CatitudeBooCatitudeBoo Posts: 590Registered Users Curl Connoisseur
I didn't see a thread like this but I figured it'd be good for jotting down any random thoughts/ideas/reliefs/frustrations pertaining to your type 3 curls! Kind of like a "what is your hair doing today?" thread or anything random really.

I'll start...today was wash day and I've think I've reached a record with the drying time. Within 40 min of applying my gel, my hair was about 60% dry, but it was also 104 degrees today :sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny:

Haha--I hate heat and am totally spoiled living here, but I have to admit that when it's hot the one big perk is having hair dry so much faster. I washed my hair a few hours ago and it's almost dry, yay. It would be dry, but our nights are way cooler than days so it's not as warm as it was.

I think my hair is a fan of my swim workouts. It's a saltwater pool so it tightens my curls. And as long as I get my hair wet and load in my conditioner before I put on my swim cap, it stays pretty moisturized too :)

I've found it! My HG!!! The eco styler olive oil works great for me. It makes my hair curlier and softer with no crunch to scrunch out. And it's not expensive at all! I think I might experiment with some different leave-ins under it, but it will definitely remain a constant. This is my second try of CG and it's a relief to find something that works :)

Wow! I'm jealous! LOL. I'd almost give anything to feel that kinda heat right now, especially if the humidity was high as well. I love hot and humid weather. Right now I'm stuck with a very chill 56F and a ton of clouds.

I'm quite surprised at my hair today. I didn't have to do anything to my hair this morning and it looks just like it did yesterday. I didn't really have alot of time this morning to mess with my hair anyways but I figured I'd still have to spritz and refresh it. It was a good surprise and I won't fix something if it's not broken.
Very fine, high porosity, currently dyed and growing out the relaxed portions. I'm pretty sure my hair's 3b something IIRC. We will be finding out for sure as time goes by.

I absolutely love gel! Gel is freaking awesome and it makes me sad that it gets a bad rap. :(

I have found my new routine for the summer...

    Wash/co wash my hair
    Apply an oil (mainly coconut)
Apply my leave in... right now I'm in loooove with OGX coconut milk conditioner!!
Apply gobs of gel and rake it through

    Happy hair indeed!! 😊

I started to buy that gel the other day! Lol

I do want to try it... Especially since I figured out how to use those LA Looks gels in my hair.

I'm sporting 3rd day hair and did nothing to it this morning other than smooth in a little KCKT. My hair is weird, it never waves evenly after sleeping on it. The right front side has a very strong curl, and it's still very curled, while the rest of my hair is pretty uniform waves. Frustrating that my curl can't seem to cooperate with my waves, argh!

Finally got my hair cut! I had been agonizing over it for a while because I'm really trying to escape jaw-length hair hell and I knew I'd be taking at least a couple inches of my last bits of badly damaged hair off.

Btw I'm not hating on jaw-length hair, Some people look great with it, I am just not one of those people IMHO!

But as the weather was getting warmer my ends were getting crispier and grosser and I realized they were probably just going to hurt the rest of my hair, so I did a little chop and thanks to my amazing stylist it feels and looks so much better even though its a little shorter.

The layers make it a lot more heat friendly too :) Now just waiting for everything to 'settle', my curls are all still a little confused.

    Random Hair Thought..

wow.. my hair really likes natural shea butter as a sealant over a leave in conditioner. it also kept my hair moisturized when I use gel. YaY :D

Also for 2nd day hair putting sweet almond oil on my dry hair really works wonders, hello sexy messy bun and bye bye frizz xD

Something amazing happened today. Right now it's 90 degrees (VA), very humid, and a storm is en route. BUT I seem to have mastered my WnG!! My hair looks great! I think it may even like the humidity? SheaMoisture is my one true love 😁

^^^^ I hear so many raves about SM that I may give it a try some day. My own routine works just fine now so I'm kinda hesitant about incorporating a new product into the mix.

Today was wash day. I notice when I used the Suave Naturals shampoo and conditioner, my curls looked more defined and less frizzy fresh out of the shower. I've heard that if your hair is frizzy while wet, it's due to product build-up which has been the case in the past. I know we're conditioned to believe that shampoo is satanic but when paired with the complimentary conditioner, it can work well (for my hair anyway).

My newest HG is using coconut milk as a deep treatment. It makes my hair so soft and manageable. I can detangle my hair in the shower with JUST WATER and that blows my mind considering I have 3c curls.

Do you warm it up or anything? I've seen a few people do this! Really curious to try

Not so much a "random" thought, but one I've been wanting to express. People often say that curlies want straight hair and vice versa. I just want to say that I personally have never wanted to trade my curls for board straight hair. However, I will admit that it bothers me how many cute hair styles are geared towards straight hair like pixie cuts and blunt bobs.

I am so tired of my hair being shoulder length ughhghghghghgghhghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

That has basically been my thought for the past many months. I KNOW my hair is growing but it's doing that thing where my curls are getting tighter and thicker rather than longer.

I just want to be able to pull all of my curls up and have more styling options, it's too short to do any elaborate or simple updos but too long to look cute when pinned back or use short hair tricks.

^^^what you said Aspen. Although curly I don't reach shoulder length, only when I stretch my curls down to they reach, lols. Well my nape hairs reach just below my collarbone. My bangs more or less reach my bottom lip now, but with shrinkage they barely look like they touch my forehead. Keep the faith- I'll be struggling along with you!

With my fine texture and lower density though, I am loving the appearance of thickness I'm getting.

Dont you just hate it when you try a new technique and it makes your hair so shiny and soft as it's drying but then you go and do something stupid like touch it too much and break the gel cast too soon so it becomes a frizzy mess and you then have to put it back in a ponytail? So much wasted beautiful curl potential because I'm not very patient :(

why must my hair look its best on day 3 and 4? I can't bring myself to go past day 5, but when it looks its best is right before I have to cleanse it....or maybe it's psychological?

Lately my hair has been frizzier than ever due to the humidity and warm breeze, but I've been getting more compliments than ever too? Weirdddd.

This is my first 'natural' summer and my hair isn't long enough to put into a decent updo yet so I've just been letting it do what it wants.

If your hair is a little frizzy ladies don't feel restricted to ponies and updos, I bet you all look great :)
