Ab Challenge!

pprMACHEheartpprMACHEheart Posts: 1,665Registered Users
For months since I've changed my eating habits I have been super obsessed with getting a six pack. From the age of 12 I've been doing sit-ups in hopes of getting a six pack but it's eluded me all these years. So why not team up with you ladies and do an ab challenge until the first official day of summer?

We should post progress pictures, ab exercises and helpful videos, eating tips, etc.

Join me! We can all get smaller waists and toned tummies together!

Now that I'm older, my middle is truly my problem area. And it gets harder every day to lose fat and build muscle.

I will join you in an ab challenge (tho no pics or measurements for me).
I plan on doing at least 1 short ab workout every day using my favorite workout video place, Fitness Blender. I have this page up on the tv so I can click and do a 10 minute workout without even having to think about it.
Full Length Workouts - Fitness Blender

Did 2 10 min videos tonight.
    --I'm located in Western PA.

--My hair is 3B with some 3A, texture-medium/fine, porosity-normal except for the ends which are porous, elasticity-normal.
--My long time favorite products are Suave & VO5 conditioners, LA Looks Sport Gel, oils, honey, vinegar.

Awesome, as long as I have a support system I can see this being a good thing with pictures or not.

Ever since I turned about 22, my flat stomach went away :( All these years I've wanted it back and currently working to get it back. I have a looonnnggg way to go, but I need support too! It's hard... especially the diet.

Any tips on the diet to get a flatter stomach? I tend to bloat easy, and they say no sugar - but that's super hard for me sometimes.

    I'm in.

I'm on my second round of insanity now, and I'm doing a 30 day plank challenge, a 30 day wall sit challenge and a 30 day squat challenge as well. I can feel my core muscles working, but it's still well insulated by a layer of fat!

Oh well, mustn't complain....at least I'm getting fitter...and my legs have REALLY toned up, and I've accepted that my improvement will be slow. I'll get there.

I've started meal prepping for the entire week so I can't sway with what I eat until the weekend which are my cheat days. I try to eat sweet healthier snacks if I want a little sugar like mango Greek yogurt.

Drinking more water has helped me so far although there's still like an inch of fat over my lower abs.

As far as diet, cutting out refined carbs and white sugar will help. You can still eat carbs but look for 100% whole wheat and other healthy grains. Use sugar in the raw, honey or agave instead of white sugar or sugar substitutes. Eat more lean protein and veggies without adding a lot of butter or frying. Prepping your meals ahead of time and having healthy snacks on hand will help with self control when you're tempted.

If you bloat it's worth keeping a food diary of what you are eating and when you bloat.

Different people bloat after eating different things such as refined wheat products, dairy products, dried fruit, so keeping a food diary can help you notice any culprits.

Also if the women in your family don't have a tendency to have flat stomachs due to where fat is stored on their bodies, then it's going to be very hard for you to maintain a flat stomach.

Great advice! I keep trying to do this but end up failing in the end. I don't tend to eat many refined carbs as I can't have bread products - so I stick with brown rice, oatmeal, and quinoa. My problem is I never get my veggies in. Planning to plant some in pots this year, so hopefully that will help me eat them and not spend a huge amount of money on organic when I can grow them myself.

On another note, I did a 4 mile bike ride today! That's huge for me, since last year I could barely walk with an injury to my back. This is my summer to get active and healthy!! :)

I found a video on youtube called the Butt Bible... the lady is super annoying, but she does some great exercises. I tried it out, since some of my physical therapy exercises are similar. It made my back and butt numb, so I guess it's too much for me right now. It's great for the core too, sigh. Onto something else I guess. My eating has much improved this week and I've lost 3.6 lbs!

Sixelmy - preheat the oven to 400 and drizzle the veggies with olive oil and a little bit of black pepper. I usually put up them in aluminum foil and bake for about 20-30 minutes and that's it. Pretty simple. Sometimes I add the veggies to lettuce and Add a little bit of goat cheese and balsamic vinegar. It's similar to my favorite sandwich at Corner Bakery.

Another quick and easy recipe is a Greek salad. Let me know if you want thec recipe.

Roasted veggies are a staple at my house. Any and all veggies. Carrots, parsnips, cabbage, broc, cauli, brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, squash, snap peas. I toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, hot pepper flakes, and a bit of raw sugar to caramelize the veggies nicely.
I make huge batches and freeze in ziploc bags to pop in the micro.

That's a good idea about freezing them. While my batch tastes good, I don't feel like it has enough seasoning. I know you probably eyeball it, but how much do you put on? I'm thinking about rotating veggies each week to try new ones. This batch I had fresh green beans, spaghetti squash, tomatoes, potatoes, asparagus, and bell peppers (green, red & yellow). Roasted sweet potatoes sound amazing, I'll have to include those in my next batch. I feel like I've found the secret to eating veggies, finally!

Hey everybody, mind if I join your group? I've been trying to get abs for a LOOONG time, but for me it's especially hard. I have a lot of health problems which makes me very skinny (ugh, hate that word). So currently I'm trying to maintain weight, but I want to look fit, you know? Everybody always teases me about how I can't pick up "heavy" stuff. Right now I'm okay with my weight, but you can still see my ribs in front&back. I just don't know how to get abs because I can't do hard exercises without getting out of breath, dizzy, or just plain worn out! I think my max is 15 sit ups, then I'm done for the day. Any ideas or tips or similar situations? Thanks!
