Dupe for Clarisonic

MariaLuvsKidsMariaLuvsKids Posts: 3Registered Users
I've read a ton of positive reviews and recommendations for the Clarisonic Mia 2 and I really want one. The problem is that it is expensive. Does anyone know of a good dupe that is priced less than $40?

For around or a little under $40 you could get the Olay ProX or the Neutrogena Microdermabrasion brush. Both are okay but neither can compare. That is why the Clarisonic costs the big bucks. It uses a technology none of the other brushes have. *The Clarisonic ETA: I said spin but I should say pulses. It does not rotate. It quickly moves back and forth which is gentler on your skin and helps loosen any gunk in your pores, and has different speeds. It's also set up to give a deeper and better clean.* The others just rotate clockwise/counter clockwise but the Olay does have a high & low setting. That plus you are paying a bit extra for the name.

I started out with the Olay. It's around $30-40, depending on the store. It works okay and I think it is good to start out with one of these scrubbing brushes to make sure you like it and have no problems. Some can not stand them or are too sensitive to use them. I ended up with a pretty good coupon and was able to eventually get the Mia.

Well worth the money in my opinion. QVC usually has a flex-pay option on them a few times during the year. That is how I bought mine.

^ I enjoy mine. I got the Mia 2 which is a little cheaper than the Pro/full sized models.. It's minus some bells and whistles but still great. ETA: Never mind me on this either ;) This is what happens when you have used a couple different bushes, read up on several, and have not used your CS in some time due to needing a new replacement brush. The Mia just has one setting and less bells and whistles than the Mia 2. It does have 2 speed settings, and alerts you when it is time to change to different areas on the face. It cuts off after 60 seconds so they recommend so many seconds on forehead, nose, chin, etc. Both the Mia and Mia 2 are more travel size, and do not have a base charging stand. They have a magnetic cord charger.

I am having a hard time with the replacement brushes. The store where I bought mine is out and Ulta was out of the regular brush heads yesterday. I have watched some tutorials on other brush heads that freaked me out a little. People had some bad reactions *using the deep cleansing/acne (and some even had reactions with the sensitive brush heads), so I stick with what it came with. *I don't think you're supposed to use the deep cleaning brushes often at all. Absolutely not every day.

Mary Kay has one for $50. It doesn't vibrate, but it spins. I like it better than the Clarisonic.

How has your skin improved from using these?

SL5000, my skin is much better. I still have acne at age 50, (but no wrinkles). I guess you have to have a trade off somewhere.

Does anybody use the Clarisonic Plus? The Clarisonic's facial cleansing looks good, but I'm particularly interested in how well the body brush (with handle extension) works. How would you compare it to using a bath brush in effectiveness, easy of use, and brush comfort?
    Peace,

Clarisonic Replacement Brush Head Twin Pack for Normal Skin

Thanks, Juana. I had not even thought of checking Amazon. I'm normally on there for movies and mainly to rent. I hardly check the site for anything else. I hope the store I bought my brush from will start carrying the heads again. It's fairly close to my house and was handy. They seem to be revolving a great deal of their merchandise now and I do not think the brushes have been a steady seller.

Spider, when I use the brush fairly regularly I see a noticeable difference. I am not one to use it every day or a couple times a day. I only do exfoliation or deeper cleaning 2-3 times a week. I loved using it with a very gentle exfoliating powder I have. It's not rough or scratchy in the slightest and they make a good pair. It was also nice with my gentle cleansing milks. Takes a bit of getting used to. That's why I tried the Olay brush first, but the Mia is still very different.

Morgan, I have been curious about the body brush myself. I always want to buy it when I see it in the store. It does look small for the body, though. I am always debating if it is any better than a slow massage with a sugar or salt scrub. You could cover more area with your hands, that is for sure.

If you look on YouTube you will find numerous videos for dupes. Sirius Sonic Skin Care System which comes with 5 or 6 different brushes. DermaNew which has 2 sides and looks a little like a mallet. One side flatten and one side tenderizes ;) Actually one side has a sponge and the other has a brush. Sephora makes a dupe but based on the pic I do not think it is electric and the bristles are impossibly huge. There is also a brush called Pretika that looks a little like the Mia. It's slightly longer and louder, only has one firmer and larger brush option, but has 2 speed settings and more bells and whistles than the regular Mia. It's around $40. It does vibrate, which is much better clean than the rotating brushes. Still not the same technology as the Clarisonic, but a reasonably good dupe for $40.

A little further on this... As I was randomly looking at reviews on YT yesterday, I heard a few people say the Plus with body brush attachment is awkward to use. It seems that several didn't even bother with it. The Pro is a larger anyway, and I sure that does make it a little odd. As I mentioned, the separate body brushes I have looked at are on the smaller side. The brush heads for both do not seem ideal for the body. I think a person might have better luck with exfoliating gloves and a regular, manual, back brush. I would be worried that I would drop the Clarisonic. :-/

Personally I am curious about the Opal for your eyes. It does seem like it would be good if the vibration is delicate. Lots of eye gels come with the cooling metal head that you roll on the eyes so the design is not bad.

I saw some cute and reasonably priced dupes for it.

You can just get a facial brush from the beauty store for a few dollars. I would save up for a real clarisonic. I have had mine for over 6 years and it still runs and holds a charge for more than 2 weeks. I have one of the older full size and it was the best $200 I have ever spent on a beauty product. You can keep the brushes for longer than 90 days, but you need to sanitize them more frequently. If the bristles are bent then ditch it. Watch for sales, and determine if you have rewards for a shop that sells them.

I've been using the Olay Pro gadget a few times a week for maybe six weeks and I think I look better. Not significantly but I notice an improvement.

I played with the Clarisonic Mias in Sephora. I can't really imagine how they would be better but possibly one day I will cave and find out!

The clarisonic has different brush heads depending on your needs. Sensitive skin, acne prone, regular. Not a one size fits all, like most of the others.
