This might be a dumb question...

But does anyone use their V05 or Suave conditioners as body wash? If we can use it on our scalps, why not on the rest of our skin? I use a sulfate filled body wash (softsoap, they have me hooked on their fragrances!) and then put moisturizer on, wouldn't conditioner be an all in one step? Your thoughts?

I've used sulfate free shampoos & body washes but never conditioners.

Just thought I'd add that I now only use conditioner to shave my legs. I don't like the rubbery feel that shaving cream gives my skin.

This was brought up to me the other day, and I had the same question as you - would it work? I'd be very curious to see responses as well. I use sulfate free body washes, but they seem to still dry my skin out, especially with the winter we had/are still having.

I haven't done so, but I would try it. My skin tends to be dry, especially during the winter months, and I add a moisturizer post-shower year round. I usually use a moisturizing bar soap (olay beauty bar), but unless I've gotten exceptionally dirty, I generally don't feel the need to lather up every inch. I do use Cure Care for shaving, but for straight up "washing", I kinda like some lather. Even after shaving with Cure Care, I still add some additional moisturizer afterward, although I need less of it. I suspect I might prefer a VO5 Moisture Milk as body wash, since those lather up better than Cure Care, which doesn't lather much, if at all.

Thanks for your opinions. I'm going to try some strawberry V05 on my loofa tomorrow. What the heck.

I used to go through shampoo twice as fast as conditioner so I'd use the left over conditioner (I would buy in sets) for shaving. I loved the way it made my skin feel.

Oddly though, I hate the way my back feels after rinsing conditioner out of my hair in the shower. I don't know if I'd like washing my whole body with it.
2C waves with a little 3A thrown in for fun, medium density, on the course side hair (IMO--will have stylist confirm at some point.) Still trying to work on porosity- have characteristics of both high and low

Polyquats are terrible. I seems to be able to tolerate butters and oils in the most sparing amounts as long as I low-poo frequently.

I too use conditioner as shaving cream. I've used YTC shampoo as a body in the past. It was awesome. Never used a conditioner as a body wash and probably wouldn't.

When I think about it I think our skin would react to it the same way hair can react to CG at first. at first it might not seem clean but then it would adjust. I'm gonna try this though. I'm almost out of body wash so I'll pick up some Suave coconut conditioner tomorrow & use it as my body wash. BUT, I'm not gonna do it on my face. I'm thinking it will clog my pores & I get pimples easy sadly lol. I'll post back in a few weeks & let everyone know if I had a good experience.

Well, I've been using a cream cleanser for a face wash for many years and it has agreed exceptionally well with my skin, so I think it could work, but I also don't poop out of my face :tongue3:

Years ago, before I was diagnosed as Celiac along with my other allergies my skin was in horrible condition. It seemed that even water irritated it.

For a time I did try cowashing my skin. For me it didn't work. In order to really get all the dirt off my skin (and it can get pretty dusty at work so I do mean a film of "dirt") I had to rub with a washcloth in order for it to work. Since my skin is sensitive the rubbing didn't agree with it at all and I was better off using a gentle foaming cleanser and moisturising afterwards instead.

I noticed the OP said she was going to use it with a loofa so in that case it just may work. However, for me, despite my skin being alot better than it used to be, it still wouldn't be able to handle all the rubbing. I've never been able to tolerate using a loofa; just way too abrasive/scratchy.
Very fine, high porosity, currently dyed and growing out the relaxed portions. I'm pretty sure my hair's 3b something IIRC. We will be finding out for sure as time goes by.

Oops, when I said loofa, I just meant one of those puffy balls of mesh with a string to hang it up, not the natural rough, hard and scratchy loofas. Sorry about that :D

    Aaah! LOL 'tis okay! =P

Is there really anyone who can withstand using those natural loofas? It seems to me one would have to have skin of steel to withstand one of those things!

But my skin is wimpy. It's alot better than it used to be but still sensitive and quite reactive when it doesn't like something. It barely tolerates 0.5% Salicylic acid at a 3.5pH to get some exfoliation. Though it doesn't mind the puffy balls. Hmmm... Now I'm starting to wonder if it may work now, too.

Skin of steel, that's for sure! My skin is wimpy too plus I have a super low pain tolerance. The only place I've used one of those things is on the back of my calves where I have bumps from crossing my legs. Although, I've been trying to use up old products and I came across a sea salt/shea/oil scrub. Oh my goodness, those bumps are virtually gone after 2 scrubs! I couldn't believe it. That hard scratchy thing is going in the garbage, haha!
