Honey in the hair help

Hi!

When I have used honey in my hair I always find it really hard to get out, unless I was to use shampoo, but I only co-wash. Does anyone have any advice? Could it be that I am just using too much and if so how much is enough?

Thanks!

When you say you are using honey, is this as a styler by itself, or mixed with other things to style, or as some type of treatment?

I haven't had any problems removing honey as long as I don't have the water too cool, or mix it with an oil only. For instance I tried mixing olive oil and honey for a deep treatment but had to shampoo it out to keep my hair from feeling too oily.

Ahh that explains it then. I have been mixing it with coconut oil! I am hoping to be able to use it as a deep treatment but don't know what to mix it with? Or should I just use it alone? Do you have any ideas?

Before or after shampooing I love the effect of honey mixed with greek yogurt as a treatment. Most recently I added a tiny bit of olive oil with no bad results. I'll also sometimes add aloe vera juice and/or gel in with the yogurt.

On Friday I did coconut milk and honey as a deep treatment. That was nice feeling. The mixture was very runny so I used an old hair dye bottle and kept a towel around my shoulders despite having a plastic cap and tshirt wrapped on my head. I also had opened the milk then decided not to wash my hair so it was cold from the fridge- to get the honey mixed in I had to warm it up under the shower water then shake vigorously. I used the leftover milk as a skin treatment that was also nice. I wasn't sure if the milk would keep until my next wash day.

In addition, I add honey to iagirls gelatin protein treatment, and her flaxseed curl cream recipe when I make them.

I use honey in my deep treatments (honey, conditioner, oils) and also as a rinse (honey and water) and never had issues with it. I've never used it with just oil tho.
