Hey everyone so I've been experiencing a lot of dryness and lack of shine in my hair and I don't know why. I always use the loc method so why isn't my hair soft and moisturized? And also I'm a full time college student so daily maintenance is difficult to achieve but I do the loc method always. Can I get some tips things that work for you?

Hi CurlyNaya! I also answered in your cg method thread! I'm starting to think that giving it a try may help a lot for you, granted I could be very wrong. My hair seemed really dry too before I did the cg method- I was also doing LOC before cg- My hair wasn't shiny unless wet, and was very dry. I had to spritz with my solution of water, conditioner, and oil at least once a day to "try to" keep it moisturized. Now I don't really use oils at all unless it's before I use a shampoo and my hair does much better.

Have you always done the LOC method, or did these problems start when you started the method? If you've been doing it for awhile, and never use a clarifier shampoo that may be the key to getting your shine and moisture back. Lastly, it could also be need of protein, which can help add moisture.

What products are you using right now?
3C/4A, fine texture, low-medium density, and low porosity

I first tried the LOC method in November and it was successful my hair felt great but once I switched the products to do the LOC method my hair has this weird texture feeling. I first was using water, argan oil and Shea moisture hair masque. But I ran out and now I use water coconut oil and fruitis conditioner. Argan oil and my hair are best friends but it's pricy especially given the small bottle they give you

I'd first try using a clarifying shampoo to see if you have some build-up. I know the shea moisture products don't have silicones, but I didn't think a whole lot of the Garnier products did. So if you are only cowashing, this might be the culprit if the silicones aren't water soluble.

Can you describe the weird texture (in case build-up isn't the problem)?

I have 4a hair & oils dry out my hair all the time. So I buy products with oils in them & my hair is doing well. If you have corkscrew curls like me, hydration is the styling priority for your hair. So I buy products & stylers that hydrate my hair. The stylers I love are cantu curling custard & la looks clear gel. Yes I cheated on my cantu styler with the la looks gel. I love them both.

I also clarify once a month with a clarifying shampoo.
